So I got my Dynatek ARC-2 today from STM. It comes with the wiring harness and setup looks like it'll be a breeze. I had one concern though...

In the instruction manual, it describes how to set up the two-step. There is a broken circuit, and upon closing the circuit, the 2-step is activated. My question is...is there a way to hook up the 2-step to the factory clutch switch, while having the switch disabled so I can still start without depressing the clutch pedal?

Also, I believe I have the diagrams all right, but just some concerns. Is the wiring harness provided long enough to get to the coilpack coming from the mounting position on the driver-side front shock tower? Also, where does the black box plug into? How do I wire the fuse into the power line from the battery to the CDI unit? Thanks.

I got some good advice from mitsumissile. He wired his 2-step to a switch, which is what I was thinking of doing. Anybody have any input on the other questions?

Because I did AT to MT conversion on my GST. So I don't need to press clutch to start the car. But I have tried to wire the 2-step to the clutch switch. You can launch it, but you will have another problem, when you press clutch to shift to to 2nd gear, you will enable the 2-step. The car will act wired. So I just wire it to a bottom and when I need it just press it and release it.

If you have any question. Please ask. Thanks

I haven't installed it yet- I'm getting to it tomorrow. I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to have it plugged in and ready to go in a short amount of time with the wiring harness provided. The only long process will be wiring up a switch for the 2-step launch control, which I don't really need yet.

God what a wiring mess, inside and outside.

I don't have the 2-step hooked up on mine but I think all you have to do is ground that one wire. So you should be able to use the clutch switch no problem if you're not using it on the car, just ground one side and send the other to the arc-2. I'm not 100% on that though as the switch might be normally closed in which case you'd need a relay to make it work.

I have a 1g so I'm not sure about the wiring harness although I mounted mine on the fire wall and had plenty of length to use everything plug n' play style. The black box should plug into the big plug that comes with the arc-2, it should be obvious by the way the connectors look. The fuse just goes inline between the battery and the arc-2.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the help guys. Upon trying to install the DIS-2 today, I found out my terminals are pretty bad and I need a new ground wire.

I had everything hooked up, put the ignition to the "on" position, and then tried to crank it. As soon as I tried to crank it, all power cut off. I was at a loss- upon jiggling some more wires, the power came back. We unhooked the DIS-2 and tried again. Power cut out, I had nothing. Through further poking around, we discovered my negative terminal and positive terminal are pretty toast. Also, my negative ground wire is split and barely holding by a few threads of copper wire.

Our theory is that because the starter isn't getting a good ground, the car protects itself by shutting power off so there isn't a surge in the system. Any truth to this? I'm going to buy new terminals and a new ground wire in the morning, and hopefully that fixes the issue.

Edit: Also, I wire it so that when the wire gets a GROUND, it initiates the two-step? It is one of the purple wires, correct? If so, which one is it? I'll look through the instructions later today...if I can still find them in the mess thats in my currently non-running car.

Anybody have any other input? I usually wouldn't bump a thread but I'd like to hear somebody else's opinion before I head out to try to fix this. My car is actually at a friend's house.
