I have had the 93 talon for 5 years and since i have gotten it my dimmer switch has never worked when i turn the light on or driving lights the interior light are always on bright and i cant not adjust them how would i test my dimmer switch or wiring to find the problem.

Also i have been working on making my car a two seater by taking the hatch and back seats out to install sound deadening material and put some fabric down. I had to remove something for my abs that is below the seats over by the rear speaker which i did i extended the wiring harness and mounted it but now my abs light is on how can i test the device and wiring to check if it is working or getting power. I also have dsmlink v3 and the cable always in the data port will this cause my abs light to always be on?

with the switch you just check the hot wire going in and then each associated wire with the function it is supposed to do. if the wire doesnt have any power it is most likely the switch, if the wire is hot then it is most likely the associated component

The 1g dimmer switch can fail either always on or always off. It just provides a ground (technically a variable voltage) for the lights through a variable resistor on the black-yellow wire (which is the return (or ground side of the lights)). Green-white is +12v when tailights are on and black is ground. Your case must have the black-yellow shorted to the black inside the switch. Or sometimes people don't want to pay for a new switch so they deliberately short the black-yellow to the black (so they have full intensity dash lights rather than none). Some people mistakely put extra loads on the black-yellow wire which burns out the switch.

You can test the switch by unplugging it and measuring resistance from where the black-yellow was to where the black was. It should vary with turning the knob. It also should vary (the other way) from where the green-white was to where the black was.

I wonder how many ppl think their dimmer irreparably failed yet the dimmer just needs good cleaning... especially the dial. At least that was my case. My dimmer rheostat went "dark" so i took it apart and discovered what appeared some type of corrosion on the back of the circuit board. I sprayed it with alcohol solution and cleaned the deposits off with nylon brush. The dimmer started flickering when connected and the dial was rotated. I sprayed more alcohol solution inside the dial and parts i could reach and clean with small brush. I soaked the dial with alcohol and rotated the dial back and forth at least three dozen times. Then i dried everything with compressed air. The dimmer works like new now....
