So which 14b guys will be attending the shootout? Running any classes? I plan on taking the car on a trailer and running the stock turbo class, assuming I'll do some T&T after the first round haha!

Yeah allowing EVO stock appearing turbos in the class is a complete game changer. What used to be 14b's and 16g's making 300-400hp is now 800+ horsepower.

- ER 2.4LR 10.0:1
- ER Head w/GSC custom grind cams
- Magnus V5 Intake manifold w/Boomba 75mm T/b
- FIC 2150 High Z injectors
- SparkTech Non-CDI COP
- ER custom Fuel system (Dual Bosch 044/040, Fuel Rail and stock FPR)
- ETS 3" UICP and 2.5" Licp
- ETS 4" FMIC
- ETS 3" DP
- ETS 3.5" Catback
- JMF O2 dump (Thanks to Jim for getting it to us quick)
- FP DBB stock appearing turbo (Thanks Robert for allowing us this opportunity)
- Spec-Ops ported stock exhaust manifold (Thanks Omar)
- ER SD Base Programming on stock ECU (Thanks Aaron)
- Omni 4 bar
- Tuned by Freddie and Jason with our modified Mivec, timing and fuel map for this turbo
- Hallman MBC@ 43.5psi (had to tighten down the WG arm)
- E85

And sure DSM's are allowed to run those same turbos, but how many DSMers do you know of running custom forward facing setups with FP blacks to compete in SAT?

Not trying to take this too far off 14b talk, but I'll leave these links here from EvoM. Top "stock appearing turbo" times for 2012.

Top 20 Fastest/Quickest Stock Appearing Turbos for 2012 - evolutionm.net

Their list from 2010 was actually more impressive though. Point being that there are several stock appearing evo turbo's that will put them in the 9's easily.

Back to 14b discussion. I picked up a velocity stack from Tyler at Force Engineering and re-fabbed my ram-air intake. Should be worth some kind of gain so I'll be looking forward to trying to better my 11.3. I think 11.25 is a nice goal, it may not seem like much but I think .05 at this point would be a nice gain for now. We'll see what the car does, I've hardly had a chance to look at it much less drive it lately.

Its the thousandths we knock off that make the difference at our level. Cant wait to see what you've come up with.

Finally, I was impressed with a Shootout class a few years ago, now, I'm back to unimpressed. No wonder why I've only been to 2 shootouts in 17 years.

Letting EVOs in the class is like pitting a Z06 against a ZR1 in the same 'stock appearing' class.

Apples and Oranges.

Certainly not worth a trip to Ohio to race. Unless of course you have an EVO with an FP black.

Hope you see a gain. How were the air temps last time you ran?

Outside temps were around 65 last time. But, I was sucking in engine bay air vs. outside air as I will be now. Hopefully it makes a difference. I also hope we have good weather, nice and cool!

I think you'll see a gain. My car actually ran better in the 90 degree summer heat than much cooler October air....

I hate to say it but for you that may have been less knock! :sneaky:

I know from past shootout experience that from the early morning weather to midday heat my car ran better with cooler air. I went from that 12.05 to 12.15's with better 60's later in the day.

I think it'll be worth a gain being that it's definitely worth more hp (referring to the intake). Hopefully I can cut some good 60's, keep the car together, and put all the new stuff to use!

For sure it was....

Only time will tell.....

Just to give everyone an idea of what I've conjured up. It's not exactly pretty, but it should be efficient. If/when I figure it out permanently I'll either use some side blockoff plates (aero!) or the intake will be in a totally different spot anyways.

If you cut the bumper so that it gets recessed, that thing would look sweet. I thought of trying to make something out of sheet metal to run some cold air up to the filter. Figured I could bend the metal to use the whole fog light opening and then plumb it to the filter.

That is excellent. Running some block offs from the corner all the way in to the start of the core (covering the end tanks) would help quite a bit. Incorporating them into some ducting for the IC/Rad fans like I have would be a nice touch too.

Yay!!! I'm not the only one with a ricer stack out of the front.

That will get the job done for sure. Looks like 4"? How did you route the piping?

Looks pretty cool actually. Recessed would be nice, but, I guess yeah confirm it's worth before permanent cutting.

Looks familiar! I made this image a few years ago when I had my filter down in the front bumper. Hopefully it works!!

Guys this is awesome I had no idea the 14b was capable of these kind of numbers. Keep up the good work. I can't wait for this years shootout!

I'm cooking something up to try and compete with the FP black cars, time will tell I guess. Car is looking good Shane! I might be making some test hits with the new combo in the next couple weeks if you can make it down with your stuff.

Yes it's 4" all the way to the 2g maf. The piping runs straight back from there, 90* up, 90* into the maf. I hate having two sharp 90* turns in there but it's efficient for now.

That's pretty funny right there! Testing showed results, now to see if it equals et results.

Thanks, I'm not sure I want to test out Martin's tech until we have some cooler weather. If all I get is one or two passes before the boot, I'd like them to be in the cooler late summer/early fall to maximize with temps.

I don't think the way you have it setup is going to hinder performance. You should see some nice gains. Did you box in the maf??

Just a couple more months for this.

.

IT shouldn't be too bad, it'll be worth at least as much as the dryer vent hose! I did not box in the maf, other then it not heating up from engine bay heat do you think it's worth anything?

This talk of intake mods got me thinking about my setup. I've got a nice 3" cold air pipe down to the stock SMIC location, but I've been using a POS knock-off brand mushroom style filter. I had wanted to make a velocity stack setup for the track awhile back but never got around to it.

Over the weekend, I pulled the filter to clean it and see what kind of space I've got, and when I went to run water through it, the thing filled up and barely any water came out the other side! Even after it was cleaned with dish detergent, it is very restrictive under the faucet. I can imagine it's pretty restrictive with air too. I've got a 3" velocity stack here, just need to trim it a bit and stick it on, I'll try to get some back to back logs with it. I'll definitely be using it next time I run!

Any of you guys have pics of your fmic mounting? I'm thinking I'm gonna have to lift mine a bit and move it closer to the rad as only about half of it was showing with the small 1ga bumper.

I did cut in behind the bumper cover and it made a pretty good difference.
