So I went in to replace my old amber bulb with a quad LED the other day and noticed the light didn't turn on when I opened my glove box, I replaced the bulb and still nothing. All of my other lights in the cabin turn on fine, I looked threw all the fuses, even looked threw the owners manual to see if it said which specific fuse controls that light and I didn't find anything.
Any help would be apperciated!

Reviving this thread because my glove box light won't turn on. The bulb is good, the activation switch moves freely. I tested the housing for the bulb (from backside and where bulb connects) and nothing.

The wire runs up into the dash so I can't follow it really without taking out the airbag.

Can I replace the bulb housing somehow? I guess I could yank out the wires but I think the wires are still dead.

How can I fix this? Note: the only other problem with the car is the SRS light turned on after I hadn't driven the car for 6 months. I've unplugged the battery overnight several times and the light remains...

I've read there's a red switch for the airbags near the glove compartment. If it gets disconnected, it will trigger the light. I've crawled all around my glove box and can't find any switch besides for the glove box. Does anyone have any ideas?! I'm pretty stumped.

Just because the activation switch for the light in the glove box moves freely doesn't mean it's functioning correctly, test it with a multimeter too. I had one fail the other way and my glove box light wouldn't shut off even when I closed it.

Once the SRS light kicks on it stays on, there's no length of time that you can unplug the battery to get it to turn off. There's a Safety Restraint System (SRS) ECU, separate from the car's ECU, that sits under the center console where the armrest is located. There are three ways to wipe the SRS light - take it to the dealer and have them clear it or diagnose it (might need to replace a sensor), buy a new SRS ECU off of eBay (or our site) and cross your fingers it wasn't throwing an SRS light before it was removed, or simply unplug the connector at the SRS ECU (under your armrest) if you don't care about the airbags.

*** If you decide to unplug the SRS ECU or any connector that's bright red and has bright yellow wire loom around it, disconnect the battery and let the car sit for ~10min. before you unplug it. ***

Behind the glove box (and slightly above) is a red connector - not a switch. In my 99 it sometimes randomly doesn't make contact inside the connector which makes the SRS light go on. I've heard others have this problem too. Just bumping it or unpluging and plugging it again fixes the problem. Note there's a lever on the switch you have to pull up and then hold a button down on it for unplugging.

Gary, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of the switch would you?

It's the plug B-30 (NOT a switch) for the passenger air bag. Open the glove box door and look back and above box with a flashlight. It's a red rectangular plug with a green lever on it (and has a yellow 2 wire harness). You lift up the green lever and push the small red button on it down while pulling the plug apart (it's designed so it can't come apart on it's own or due to any vibration). I've never disconnected the battery and had a problem although I always stay out of the way just in case. Mine causes the SRS light to go off 2 or 3 times a year and it's always just a bad connection in the plug. I've heard others complaining about the same problem.

Here's a picture of the plug:

Thanks for your reply. I found the plug. Do you clean the connection or just unplug/plug it back in? I figure I'll use a q-tip and some electrical cleaner..

I've tryed cleaning it but it's never made a difference for me.

I uplugged the harness. It looked really clean and I couldn't even fit a broken in half q-tip in to clean it. So I just blew it out (a bit of dust flew out) then I plugged it back in. I started the car and no change. Looks like my only choice is to get a new SRS ECU. Off to the junkyard. Thanks for the advice.
