It may be premature to be posting this but I'm trying to get some help before I embark on the mission to either fix it where its at or get it towed.

Basically 2days ago the check engine light came on, and today it starts holds a rough idle for about 3 seconds and dies. If I try and give it gas it revs up very slowly and dies and smells very rich. I have no idea what the condition the plugs are in as I bought this car less than two weeks ago, but immediately i feel like that's the culprit. I'm not sure if it'd matter but a couple hours before I jump started my friends vehicle. So maybe distributor?

I suppose I'm just trying to figure out where I should begin? Grabbing a obd2 scanner and checking that code or maybe checking for a vacuum leak.

Thanks in advance for any support.

Alright went to work on it today and without doing anything it started up no problem. As you can assume I AM still concerned.

The codes it's throwing out are cylinder 1 & 2 misfire and P1105 (upon my research it says its the fuel pressure solenoid). I've been scouring the forums on P1105 and haven't found much luck on solid information for this code.

I have my fuel pressure solenoid unplugged and it doesnt throw CEL or run any different. I would start look at the Maf. I go through my car so much and i tend to forget to plug it in, and it does the same exact thing you"re describing. Im not saying you forgot to plug yours in, Im insinuating its bad.

This might be a stupid question but. In theory even if the engine is warm and i unplug the MAF and try and start it, it should produce the same results?

If that's the case then count the MAF out. Is there another way to test the MAF? (I much rather KNOW its the maf before I spend $180-$220 for one ya' know:hmm:)

It seems that it only does it when it's cold outside. And right now I have it bypassing the fuel solenoid.

Bump. Because I'd like to take a stab at it today :banghead:.

(I also just ordered the fuel pressure regulator because it was inexpensive either way)

Sounds just like the Cam sensor problem I just went through sounded like helicopter when it would try and start. But then just die no matter what. The computer just shut down the car.

Mine was just getting worse by day.
Sounds like your problem to. My sensor was brand new had to do a defective exchange.

Confirmed! Issue was the cam position sensor!
