Hello everyone. I would like to start things off buy saying that I'm not much of a thread poster because I enjoy reading forums and gaining knowledge about my car but I've searched and couldn't find anything useful about this topic. I'm starting to venture into my 6bolt swap and have meet numerous friends that have a bunch of knowledge about 1g's and 2g's. The only thing that everyone is not to educated in is the ecu stuff. My one friend is giving me a complete 1g GS-T ecu and wiring harness. He said all I have to do is pull the complete 2g harness and ecu and then run the 1g harness through the firewall and connect up all the sensors under the hood. Then he said all I have to do is splice in the few wires under the dashboard for the gauge bezel and all the other controls and also the power wires for the ecu. I was wondering if this is true or not? Thank you everyone for your time and best regards. 01'3gGT

That is WAY too much work for a simple 6 bolt swap.

The only thing you have to wire for the 6 bolt in a 2g chassis is the CAS. You eliminate the crank sensor and play with some pins at the coil pack and ECU.

Even if someone were giving me a known good 1G eprom ECU, I wouldn't tear out the entire harness to try & rewire a 2G to work with it! You can always sell it off and buy a 2G eprom ecu so that you are operating the car correctly. The 2G ECU has more sensor inputs anyway, so it's more flexible with something like DSMLink installed than the 1G ECU is.

The standard 1g into a 2G wiring conversion info at RRE's site is more than sufficient to do the job; remove the plugs from the old 2g sensors to wire into your harness adapter so that you can always return to the stock configuration should you desire to in the future.

I agree with what was said before, I did a 6 bolt swap into my brothers 2g and there were not that many wires that we had to change on the 2g ecu. I would not be worth your time at all to try and swap ecu's. Check out RRE's website for good info on the subject.
