1ga overheated badly

So this week I picked up an other 1ga 98k miles for $850. The car overheated badly spark plug wires melted! Had between 0 an 40 in each cylinder. Any possibilty i can get away with resurfacing the head and doing a hg. Or should i consider a complete rebuild?? I have a spare 6 bolt with eagle rods bse arp hardware just needs pistons bearings maybe l.ight machine work. Any info helps thanks
