Hey every one names mike obviously, i bought a 93 eclipse back in 06 ran for two months then died on me. I am now ready and willing to fix it and get back on the road.

So i have two options with fixing it 1. Just rewire the entire engine harness and rebuild the motor and have a hardparker car or option 2. I have a talon awd that i got for free that i can swap every thing over.

Im kinda leaning to the hardparker route myself less work and what not.

Few questions tho is where does the generations start iv read a little bit and seems like 1g and 2g refers to the newer models, where i thought it would mean the older models.

Any ways hi

All really could get from that is that you name is Mike Obviously, and that you have a base model 1g without pop up headlamps that you've owned for around 6 years even though it doesn't run.

The only part of the question I have the information to answer is about how generations are numbered.

The first generation built is considered the first generation, (1g) therefore the 1g would be the older model. The reason they do it that way is because it makes sense in a basic logic sort of way. If the very first ones they made were called a 15g for whatever reason, then 14 other variants would have to be built in the future to get to the 1g model, and how would a manufacturer know if the model was even going to be that successful. Inversely, just think how many members of this forum wouldn't even be alive, if the first Camaros in 1967 were dubbed the 3g F body.

Ps. I once had a base model 1G that sat outside for 6 years in non-running condition, and the best use I could come up with was this:

It really wasn't too hard to park.

Haha where im at a hardparker is some one that has a fast looking car but you will only ever see it parked at a meet or show.

Then my 93 does not have the pop up lights it has the one peice lights.

And i need it for gas is my thought so im ptobably going to rewire and rebuild the motor

(There's that "MUDDER" Laser again .. :D love how it was put together on an original concept)

You can head to http://www.dsm1eights.org for a lot of info on the 4G37 motor.

I'm on my third 1.8L Automatic with this one having 205K miles. Runs super good outside of needing valve seals. But, did cam and rear main seals, timing belts, lifters and what have you to keep this little motor running super smooth..in which I bought this car from a 16yr old back in 2002 that wanted fast cash and he took 200 bucks fo the car, in which at that time was in a poor condition and a sick tranny.

I uses it as my DD and leave the Turbo Laser for the freeway and long jaunts .

Go hardparker with it

Yea thats what im thinking. I know it might sound weird but i kinda want to get the lightest crank, rod and piston setup but keep stock displacment and flywheel to see if i can make a more gas efficient car (with tune of course)

I don't think that you will be able to keep your flywheel stock. If you are going to go with a lighter setup, then you seem to be running the risk of having your motor go to crap. If you are going to do part of it, you might as well go all the way with it to save yourself the hassle of having to do it later. You will also probably have a balance issue happen with the change. Just my three cents.

It will only go to crap if its built wrong. I didnt mean im going to lighten the stock parts but go after market for lighter parts, which would allow me to rev higher but also takes less force to push the lighter parts, But your right about the flywheel it should be a light weight version as well
