So i stopped here since there seems to be so many Eclipse/Talon fans here.
My Eclipse GSX is my first car and i want to be able to take care of it without having to go to an auto shop so my wallet can get ganked.
I have a problem on my hands as well, my brother and i both have a 95 DMS, he has a Talon TSI and i have an Eclipse GSX, both stick. When he first got the car he didnt know how to drive stick and caused the car to burn out. Well, my car wouldnt be able to burn out if it was in snow. Its seems so weak from take off and i cant seem to figure out why. Its gets horrible gas milage and is very weak. i have 2 mechanics in my immediate family and neither will help so i hope you can.
im not really looking for power, i just want my car to run normally so i can get to work without having to fill up every 220 miles.

same here...im getting about 210-220 on a full tank as well but i only fill up about 10 gallons. i used to get about 250-260 before. hopefully when i do a tune-up in the next few days, it will pick up mileage.

Your car should not be weak off the line, it's an AWD - it should be a monster off the line. Having said that, you probably won't be doing burn outs unless you're making some serious power because spinning all four wheels is not as easy as spinning two unless you're making some serious power... I'm guessing your brother drives a fwd tsi.
If you're having some issues with acceleration, please explain them more precisely.
And it appears your gas mileage is acceptable for an awd dsm.
Thats a nice clean eclipse you have there dispinoygotgame.
Thanks alot man . well i'll check for fuel leaks tmrw. im pretty sure when i change the plugs and wires thought that gas mileage will pick up. if not i'll look into a new o2 sensor
Well, after i get paid im gonna go to my Brother's teacher and he is gonna test absolutely everything to find the problem
cool dude
and on another note, i dont want to burn out, i just want to be able to. i know my car should because ive seen the exact same stock AWD version do it. i was in the car when it happened.
So it looks like ive got alot to learn, but i have time. Ill be lurking til i can gain some basic knowledge.
Here's an idea: Start with maintenance!
Replace air filter, fuel filter, plugs/wires, front o2 sensor, do a boost leak test, have the alignment checked, and put air in your tires. Do a compression test to see the condition of the motor. If good, then there is no reason why you shouldn't be getting much better gas mileage.
All of this info can be found on this site. Including: how to, what kind of parts to get, and more.
Check for boost leaks, your front 02 sensor and adjust your driving style.
Also, your car will feel a bit doggish off the line when compared to the Tsi. We have higher drivetrain loss and the car weighs more. You'll get used to it.
Does anyone realize his brother has a FWD, which is why he gets better gas mileage and can "burn out."
my bro has AWD dude....
left 4 short streaks in the street, new complex in oceansice, maybe it was because of dirt or gravel.
Regardless, im not here to do burnouts please read the thread, i just want to know if i could get any tips on finding out why my GSX is weaker than my mothers Yaris
