Just making a introduction.

My name is Mike and I just bough a 99 eclipse GSX. This is my first DSM!!!

Ive always wanted one since my high school days and finally picked one up.

Going to be using her as a DD and plan to keep it up!!

These cars are getting harder and harder to find and I think they should be kept up and not turned into crap!!

Car came with an EvoIII 16g, AEM meth kit, HKS exhuast and BOV.

Im looking to sell the 16g and AEM kit and just put a T-25 back on her.....
Yeah Im boring LOL

No need to make it faster. I've had/have lots of fast cars.... I just want to enjoy this one for what it is:thumb:

I doubt youll enjoy a T25 for long. Its just ridiculously anemic. If youre really inclined to go with a smaller quicker spooling turbo then find a 14b.

Anyways, grats on the new purchace and welcome to the DSM world. The get a bad rap for reliability, but if you mod within reason and keep up on maintenance theyll treat you great.

Like you said, I plan to keep the car up.

I really have no plans to mod the car. Just keep her as a daily driver.

IMO the 16g is not really needed. Spool is fine honestly (Ive had some mighty big turbo cars before)

I just want as little issues as possible.

Good call man. Keep it original and sell it in 40 years for 6 figures. I bought mine (99 gsx, black leather white gauges) bone stock. This thing just had oil changes thats it.

Well it stayed stock for about 2 months, but only lasted 6 months after that now I am replacing the motor and transmission. I am going to revert it to stock.

:hellyeah::hellyeah:

welcome to the board. let me know when your ready to sell the 16g :thumb:

Also since the 16g is already installed the 14b will just bolt right in its place. They are also cheap.Since the inercooler piping is probaby set up for a 16g and not a t25 you would have to redo the pipe that connects to the compressor outlet.

Also welcome. I also agree with the 14b instead of t25. The t25 sucks. IMO.

I know it sucks for making power but again, this isnt the car in which Im dumping a fortune into nor trying to go 9's with. Its just going to be a great DD.

Thanks! Ill make a post on it when that day comes. Also have an AEM meth kit.... that I dont need/want.

+1 I love these cars for what they are.

In my view, and maybe Im wrong, the cars that keep their value are the ones with zero to little mods i.e. exhuast, BOV, and some gauges..... body is in great shape and is a GSX LOL.

Which is all I want, a very lightly modded GSX. HELL IM LOOKIN FOR STOCK WHEELS! LOL

I joined the forum to learn more about the car. Although Im not unfamiliar with the 4g63 when I had my Evo.... It is still a new car to me

congrats and welcome... i say just keep the evo16G its definitely a daily driver turbo....

welcome mike, I have met you a few times. We went to the track and got pulled over LOL. Also playing cards at sues. well good luck on the DSM. Was it the maroon auto one in front of the shop? Eddie

Hey Eddie whats up!

Yes the track was fun LOL.... and so is sues house.

Its shawna silver one I snatched up!

BTW do you have your stock GSX wheels you'd be willing to part with?

congrats and welcome... i say just keep the evo16G its definitely a daily driver turbo....

The 16g is a nice turbo for the car, my standpoint is- do I really need it?

Why stress the motor if Im not really looking to make power ya know.

If I wanted a car to last longer and get better gas mileage for DD, then the 16g is pretty much perfect. Even at stock boost levels the T25 just blows hot air. Running 12psi on the 16g would be much better than 12psi on the T25. Less propensity for knock, longer living turbo, less heat, more life.

What stress? Keep it at stock boost and no lead foot and your good

Then what would be the point to run that turbo at stock boost settings?

Not really effecient at that level?

Also isnt it somewhat true that more air flow being pushed through a motor = more stress on it?

And more air would flow through a 16g at 15psi then a T25 @ 15psi

I maybe wrong here and by no means am I a pro in this subject, but I thought this is basically the deal

sloid point. not sure if that would hold true at 11-12psi though? Idk

A 16g at 11-12 psi will pretty much make the same power as a t25 save maybe 10-20hp. Theirs just a bunch of other choking items limiting power on the stock car to make any more power without forcing it down the motors throat, ie more boost.
