We just purchased a '96 Talon this weekend, we are new to DSM. This car will be for our son who will be 16 in March. It is a basic model 2.0 liter, nothing fancy, but we like the body style. We do eventually plan to put a body kit and spoiler on it (and paint), but don't plan any mechanical mods on it. He can do that later with his own money if he decides to when he moves out, LOL.

We are looking into getting the timing belt replaced and fixing a few things here and there. Got new oil/filter, air filter, fuel filter, floor mats (I had to take OUT the car seats to shampoo the gross carpet!). I would like to either find or fix the interior door panels - there are holes from speakers in it (assuming tweeters since they are small holes).
here is a pic of the driver's panel - the passenger has the same hole:

then we need to fix the horn (it only makes a clicking noise that I can hear near the large fuse panel under the hood)

I'm sure there will be lots more to fix - as you always have to fix a lot on any car you get under 2G's, LOL.

A bit about myself;
stay at home mom who lots call me a ''Jill of all trades''. I sew, I cook, I take care of the house, I work on cars, I do woodworking, and even butcher deer when hubby or oldest son shoots them :)
I am happily married to my best friend Brian since 1991 (together since 1987). We have two sons. Jacob is in college (first year) at UofIdaho and Connor is a Soph in HS. Jacob drives an '87 Pathfinder that we put a lift kit in last summer and then straight axled it this summer. Finished the day before he had to move to college!

Anyhow, I've been working on my own cars since I was a teenager when I couldn't get my brother to do my brakes on my '74 MustangII LOL. I can do a lot of things myself, although I prefer to work as a team with someone :) I have always had cars that needed worked on..... most recently had to remove the whole front end of my Merc.wagon to replace the radiator (hubby had just had leg sugery and couldn't help at all). I have even replaced timing belts on an '87 Subaru wagon that I had (as hubby and his friend drank beer and watched me do it!) a few years ago. Hubby and I have swapped motors on the same Subaru before and we did on a '70 MGB/GT as well. Anyhow! Looking forward to learning what needs to be learned to keep the Talon on the road and hope to learn what it takes to put a body kit on it too.
