Hey all, My name is Cody im 19 and just purchased a 1990 eagle talon tsi AWD. Got a good deal on the car from a buddy but it does need a little work. Small rust spots and oxidation, no problem ha! But one major question i do have is that there is an issue with the MAF sensor. That issue is that when plugged in the car will idle irratically between 1k and 2k, But when you unplug it the car runs in limp but it still drives well.

We have tried different MAF's and to no avail. My buddy told me to just go with the GM 3in MAF with a translator, Is that what everyone else is doing or is there an easier way. Granted swapping out a MAF isnt all that hard and for longevity sake with adding parts i think its the best way to go.

Thanks to anyone who has some input im looking to get this beast shreddin pretty soon.

One more thing, Is there anyother high risk drivers on here? Im just curious as to what you pay for insurance because i really dont feel like getting anally raped being its a turbo and all.

I would avoid the GM MAF. You can get a Jackal setup for not a whole lot more and you'll have a much more powerful tuning tool. I would also suggest that your MAF is not the problem, I would guess that it is somewhere in your throttle body. What you are experiencing is commonly described as idle surge and you can type that exact phrase into the search box in the top row of this forum to get all the information you need.

Generally if you have a question about an issue the introduction forum isn't going to get you much help since it isn't a tech forum.
