Products that the DSM crowd would like to see made

This is a thread meant to give the DSM community a direct line of communication to let our Supporting Vendors know what we'd like to see made for our cars. Please only reply to this thread with products that are CURRENTLY NOT ON THE MARKET. Be as specific as possible and state the problem and how the product you're suggesting would solve it. Please try and limit your suggestions to functional products if possible, as opposed to styling products. If you see someone suggesting a product be made that is already available, PM them and report the post so we can delete it to keep the thread clean.

Supporting Vendors, please feel free to ask questions about these suggestions but do not use this thread to argue with other vendors or create any unnecessary tension.

Widebody Front Fenders like the Evo guys get. (2g)

I would really like to see some aftermaket cast intake manifolds. SMIM's are nice but not worth the hassle to run in some areas because of emissions & cops. Something that more resembled a stock unit, would be great (though obviously runner length & plunum size would be different). Lots of other vehicles have cast aftermarket versions available but I only know of one version for us & its only for 1g's & more resembles a SMIM. It would be nice if the factory system, such as EGR could still be hooked up as well. With emissions getting stricter & stricter (well atleast around here anyways) I think something like this could have some good potential.

I think these are great ideas as well

First few suggestions of products I'd like to see made and sold by our Supporting Vendors:

- 1G Racing Tubular Lower Front Control Arms. These used to be available but are not anymore. I'd like to see something that is strong enough for road racing and yet lighter than the factory pieces. Weight savings in the front of the car is gold. Here's an example:

- 1G Racing Tubular K-Member. Again, strong enough for road racing and lighter than the factory piece. Weight savings in the front of the car is gold. Here's a thread where one was being discussed:
Custom tubular K-member

- 1G Redesigned Motor Mounts. The timing belt-side motor mount on the 1G is big, bulky, and is not used on the 2G. There should be some way to ditch it for a lighter weight version and free up space. Again, strong enough for road racing and lighter than the factory piece.

- Engine Dampers. This is a piggy back on the motor mount idea. Stiffen up the engine bay.

- 1G Complete Rear Trailing Arm/Spindle Assembly. I know this is not likely to happen but boy would this be nice to see. Completely get rid of the rear active toe assembly with a lighter weight piece that will give us better options for rear brake calipers and rotors, not to mention other options. How great would that be? Again, strong enough for road racing and lighter than the factory piece.

- 1G tubular front crash beam. Replace the big boxy crash beam with a tubular piece that has provisions for the bumper cover mounting bolts. Options could include a tow hook mount. Strength of the factory piece but stiffer, lighter, and less bulky.

- 1G Front Lower Tubular Motor Mount Cross Member. This is the lower cross member that bolts up just below and aft of the radiator on a 1G. The front motor mount bolts to this. It would be nice to see a tubular piece made up that includes a provision to attach the motor mount. Again, strong enough for road racing and lighter than the factory piece.

- 1G Rear Toe Eliminator Kit. Previously available from DSS. This is a no-brainer.

- 1G Rear Upper and Lower Control Arms. Adjustable heim joint-mounted arms like the ones seen in these photos:

Again, strong enough for road racing and lighter than the factory piece.

- 1Ga and 1Gb Functional Front Bumper Cover. For those of us who want more air to go through the FMIC and other coolers but don't want to look like we should be showing our car at Hot Import Nights. Something subtle, yet functional. Something that retains the body lines and overall spirit of the factory look. I can draw one up that will look 100 times better than anything on the market right now.

I'll post other ideas later.

I'd like to see a 3.5" turbo back bolt on exhaust, for a 1G.

I'd also like to see a bumper cover like Ludachris mentioned. I did a really crappy paint-chop (didn't have photoshop on my laptop) of how I'd like my Laser bumper to look. Here it is. I'm actually talking to a custom fiberglass guy to see what it would cost to have my stock bumper modified to look like that picture.

We're going to be working on lightweight aero parts soon...belly pans, diffusers, etc. They should be available in the next couple of months.

Tubular controls arms (both adjustable and none) are available from a local vendor in our area. Mavisky is going to be running a set on his car this year. PM me for info on those.

Gas Strut Hood Props for 1g's and 2g's are available from several companies...they are universal and rivet in.

SS Fuel Return Line kit (From AFPR to the stock tank with all fittings, lines, etc.)- We sell these. Give us a call.

0-12 gallon gas tanks with stock mounting tabs using the stock gas gauge.- JMF has an 8 gallon version...i'm sure they can accomodate you.

Harness Bars for 1g's (can't find the old one anymore, especially for a decent price)

2. I tought most 1G stuff was NLA.
4. I know they are availible. But I want Total Seals
6. I was sarcastic, I am looking for the $4-$500 range. You can get them for most domestics for that, why not ours? our cars are probably as popular as mustangs and cameros
9. For a 1G? how much for both quarters and rockers for a 91 talon?

2. Gotcha....you said "or" so I figured it wasn't a specific request
4. Some is NLA and some is still available (although in limited quantities)
6. Domestics have the benefit of being interchangable between models and came in HUGE quantities. We'll never get down to their price points.
9. $225/ qtr panel, $125 for the right side rocker, and $97 for the left

Any chance on some prototype photos or design concepts for these aero parts? I am about to custom fab all of them and it would save me a lot of time and money if they are premade out of lightweight materials. I can also offer you testing on downforce, drag coeficients and extreme high speed testing (200+)

I can post up a couple prototype photos from an Evo in the next couple weeks as we're doing most of our developement on a customer's Time Attack Evo. We'll pass along most of that design over to the 1g and 2g platforms.
