Just wondering if you wre able to replace the PTE bearings with some genuine garret 360* thrust plates and drill/tap the housing for them to bolt in like normal would this solve the issue?

Tryin to figure out if the failures are due to inferior bearing design or if there's a whole different issue in the casting of their housings or something causing these failures. I've seen garrett stuff (even my last one of my own) last 10+ years and 100k + hard miles with little to no wear, but these PTE's fall apart so fast it's uncanny. Just wondering if (justin)or anyone else has rebuilt one and had decent results. I can get a 5756 or something like that for next to nothing right now (money off a labor bill) but it's thrust is shot, no wheel damage because it's not being ran, but a quick look-over and i told him it was junk so the amount off his bill becamse about nothing really..just seeing if i should bother

PTE was already using the steel Garrett 360* plate in these turbos, that's the problem. LOL

The steel plate and steel washer create heat as there's no brass/bronze soft-metal wear buffer. The owners aren't using oils with high-ZDDP, so the thrust washer overheats, splits, and explodes. Voila...instant junk.

ahh.. i saw the thrusts in those pics and they looked the wrong color from all garret stuff i've sen, not to mention the oiling paths looked "oversized" as well

What's the ZDDP and how to you ceck for that LOL (i almost feel retarded/dumb since i dont' know this one LOL )
