Let me start by saying i know all of your opinions on Ebay turbos, I know they are hit or miss. however i have had good luck with them on mustangs and other v8 applications. here is my question as i am new to the 4 cyl turbo world. keep in mind im not asking about how long the turbo will last, im not asking what turbo you would use, etc... this is just a side project if the turbo blows its whatever it costs 200 bucks i wont cry. im looking at the t70's they sell on ebay, i already have a t3 manifold and a 44mm tial external gate with a 20psi spirng in it. the turbo specs are as follows

Compressor:
Trim: 59
Inducer: 56.2
Exducer:72.9
A/R: 0.70

Turbine:
Trim: 62
Inducer: 73.9
Exducer: 58.3
A/R: 0.84

has anyone run a similar spec turbo and is it streetable on a mildly modded car. if you want to see a complete list of my cars mods just look in my profile everything is there. any useful help would be great im not looking to get yelled at here just whether or not the specs of the turbo are do able on a 2.0 and around what rpm can i expect spool up. not trying to "bench race" just looking for input before i set it up.

It should move a decent amount of air, but its high boost efficiency will be shit because it has a 72mm exducer on the compressor.

It will probably spool at about half the speed of snail.

Also, it will probably be junk before you even get the car tuned. Be ready to buy a new intercooler when this thing shits the bed and fills your intercooler full os compressor wheel

well streetable for me means i wont have to bounce off 2 step for a bit to get spool, if im going down the highway i can drop a gear and get to boosting no have to wait till 5000 for boost. i just dont want something unbearably laggy.im not sure how these motors spool up with larger turbos like ive said im familiar with v8's not so much smaller displacements. i know my mustang with an s475 would make max boost around 4300 off the stall convertor but i dont know what to expect with these.

BTW your talon looks nasty

Wes' talon looks much better in person. Just sayin...

In other news...I have a feeling this thread will be shut down...

why would they shut the thread down. i thought this is what forumns were for. asking others their expieriences and using that to help determine what you should do, im simply asking if anyone has used a similar spec'd turbo so i can get a good idea if it will work for me.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. Unfortunately, it's all dinged up from a recent collision with a deer, but it will live.

What don't you like about the 20g? Maybe a 50-trim or HX35 w/ BEP housing would suit your needs.

NINJA EDIT:

You need to watch the whole grammar, spelling, sentence structure thing.

Well the reason I was going to go with the ebay turbo is because I just need something to hold me over until my friend Gives me his hx35 off his cummins. The oil lines and t3 flange will make the holset almost a direct swap from this one. he is gonna give me it when he goes bigger so I just want something to hold me over that wont be to bad driveability wise.

edit:my 20g catastrophically(spelling) failed... long story
sorry about the grammer in the previous posts typing from my phone

The 20G has a dsm housing which is ruined. I already have oil Lines, a t3 manifold and a v band downpipe off a mustang I can make work. I really wouldnt need much to make it work. then for the holset i would just have to redo the flange on the downpipe.

You'll end up with a better turbo with some resale value if you get a used turbo made by a reputable company. You could recoup most of your money that way.

$400 should get you a used turbo that will not only last, but can then be sold for $400 again after 6 months.

But that T70 isn't what you want. It sounds a little large for what you're looking at.

alright man thanks for the input. Very helpful. Only reason I was trying to rush into a cheap turbo is because im kind of broke right now and my HKS air filter fell apart and the turbo sucked it up and well.. it was a mess. and the car is my daily so ive been getting rides for a few days now and it sucks LOL. your one of the few people I've talked to on these forums that isnt very rude and judgmental. Coming from mustang forums and lsx forums everyone is very kind and up to try new things i feel like alot of people on here are set in their own ways and are not open to new things. ive seen Hondas go 10s on ebay parts, ive also seen mustangs go 9's on twin ebay turbos. But thankyou very much for your help.

So is it just the compressor wheel that's messed up on your 20g, or does it have shaft play too.

There are a few people on this site (one of whom I've personally dealt with) who rebuild Mitsubishi turbos for a very fair price. You may want to get in touch with one of them and see what they can do.

I've had Justin (JusMX141) rebuild my small16g for me.

Buy an HY35 off cummins formum for $150.

That ebay unit has a pretty good sized turbing wheel, coupled with a largeish housing, finally mix in a bit of china's finest engineering, and your looking at 5000rpm full boost.

My old hx35 setup saw 25psi at 5200, i expect you'll see similar results.

What kinda manifold do you have? if its tubular and it cost you less than $400 you might as well throw it in the trash.

wheel is destroyed, shaft is bent, compressor housing is scored badly... its hurt pretty good id send you a pic of the intake wheel looks like it had a bird strike..

HOLSET HX35 TURBOCHARGER CORE - PART NUMBER 4036531 | eBay

think im just gonna buy this either that or there is an H1C off and intercooled 92 cummins for 250 i cant decide which, the H1C comes with a warrenty so idk

not sure came on the car looks very well made though ceramic coated black. ya im def gonna grab a holset right out the gate. only question is will i be able to run it low boost until i get it tuned im talkin like 10 psi just so i can drive the car because its my daily and i cant have it down much longer.

I wouldn't buy that one. Its an oddball, could have a hx40 turbine based on the 63mm exhaust measurement. hx35 = 60 hx40 = 64..... In a 16cm housing, it will be a lag monster. Any holset in a t3 housing is going to be laggy. Its also going to require lots of fabrication.

Seriously, get on cumminsforum, find a local that has a hx35 or a hy 35 forsale, and go buy that. You have a much higher risk of getting ####ed on ebay.

I signed up on cumminsforum, and the next day I had a perfect hy35 in my hands for $125, this is after months of seeing them go for $300 on ebay, and I was able to inspect this one before I bought it.

Also

Like I said, you've caught me in a generous mood.

Note sure if it's worth anything, but I was looking at running a HY35 before I decided to try getting a HE351VE to fit and work. They come with a 9cm housing. Depending on how your intercooler piping is ran, you would want to look for either a down-firing or 90 elbow outlet on the compressor housing.
