Garrett Releases GTX3576R Turbo

So they claim the 30R turbine can't handle the flow that a GTX3076R compressor gives, hence the jump to a 35R turbine. You're already giving up a few hundred RPMs of spool by doing this, so the first two things that come to mind are:

- What is their target audience with this turbo? Why wouldn't the GTX3576R user just jump to a GTX3582R and be rewarded with even MORE airflow and better efficiency?

- If what they claim is true, why did FP have great success with the 3065 which uses the 35R compressor mated to a 30R turbine....basically the opposite of what Garrett has built here?

Perhaps Garrett should look at building a more efficient turbine housing like FP did than fixing a turbine/compressor combo that obviously isn't broken.

Old news?

As far as I know, the GT40 and 42 frames have been out for a while now, but the smaller GT3x series GTXs were recently introduced.

The GTX series were released at the end of 2010.

this is old news.

You're bonkers buddy. The GTX3576R just made its debut at SEMA just 7 days ago.

If 7 days is old news than I must live under a rock.

Yes garrett released there GTX series a year ago, but NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THAT. We are talking about the new GTX stuff just released.

erm GTX3576 would jst be a 35 turbine wheel with a 76mm exducer compressor wheel err , i dnt tink this turbo would favour the dsmers , DSM'ers prefer GTX3082 or GTX3582 instead

Flexer, that's a good article. Thanks for posting the link to it.
My thought right off the bat about the GTX turbo lineup was that it was odd they didn't design new turbine wheels to go along with (and match with) their new compressor wheels. There has been enough progress in aerodynamic technology in the last 15 years that I think this would be worthwhile. Like the article says though, the GTX3071 should be good, and the GTX3576 is kind of a logical extension of the same idea.
