Few snap shots of the garret .63 housing next to an 18cm housing. I'll have more from my digital camera later.

Looks comparible to the BEP .55 in size. Fits nicely on the OBX t3 manifold.

Is'nt that a Bullseye housing?

No, it's a Garret t3 from tims turbos. These are available for hx35 and hx40's now for the same price as the .55 BEP. ($199) They are middle ground between the .55 and .70 Bullseye housings. Has a 4 bolt exhaust flange.

Wow, I had no idea. I was'nt impressed with the Bullseye housings threaded parts. The housing needed all of them retapped. Thanks for the post. Nice ERL copy!

Unfortunately i wont have comparison data. I think the limiting factor will be the 2.5" exh outlet. Ill have complete install pics later in the holset build thread. This setup will be a bit "different". ;)

I dont think the 2.5" will limit it.

the factory Holset housing only have a 2.5" outlet as well

From my experience with .63 Garrett housings, that truly looks like it's a smaller a/r than what it's marked.

Digging through I came up with one of a 4-bolt outlet- this should give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Notice the angle at which the airflow enters the wheel as well as the size of the radius....I honestly think your housing is smaller than the .63 it's marked.

Sure looks the same. I don't know why they are only being marketed for 4g64 engines. That deal wasn't available 2 weeks ago. I feel slightly robbed. WTF

I see what you mean, It's hard to compare them when your looking at opposite sides of the housing though. Should be able to measure it and get a rough idea. I dunno seems like .63 housings have been around forever.

That's not an ERL copy at all and the ERL in itself is a copy of the SFP manifold.

As far as the housing goes, it looks every bit as small as the .55 a/r One thing to remember is that different companies use different means of measurement. For example purposes that .63 could be SMALLER than the .55 BEP. I highly doubt there's much difference but you'll never know. Either way you'll still be restricting its absolute potential but either way it'll make good power.

As far as the manifold goes, we already showed you that same 4g64 link in the last OBX thread where you posted. Can't believe you're just now seeing it LOL.

I don't see the $150 manifold listed in my OBX thread? Not one before post #24 where I ordered mine anyway. I would have jumped all over that! I'm sure it's the same one.

I thought there was only one way to measure A/R? How would companies get different numbers? If it's advertised as .63 and I measure it and it's a .49 I would be able to return it.

I'm not really sure it's something that an individual can measure- it's more likely something that is done on CAD when the housing is designed....and being that your housing is not a factory Garrett housing (definitely appears to be a Chinese copy like those sold on the eBay T04E turbos) it could literally be anything. Hell the Chinese Evo III's have .70 a/r cast into them, and they're not even CLOSE to that spec. They're more like .48/.49.

The main reasons I'd choose the .70 BEP housing (which happens to be the same price) is you don't really pick up that much lag in back-to-back comparison with the .55 DSM bolt-on housing....maybe 300rpms at the worst; the BEP .70 housing has a v-band on the discharge which is WAY easier to service than anything with bolts that are prone to breaking off, and the BEP housing also is proven to flow enough air to support the HX40 compressor on our cars.

It was posted after you ordered it but it was before you returned to the thread and posted anything else.. Check post 34..

Straight from Tim of "Tims Turbos"...

Hello,
Yes it is a true .63 A/R. We don't sell china junk. Feel free to measure it. PTE uses very bulky castings. They need a place to put there name. FYI Precision gets there casting done over seas.
let me know if I can help you out with anything...

That looks pretty good. Wondering how that manifold will hold up. Debating between that one and the Punishment budget manifold myself.
