I have been having really bad turbo lag on my MHI Big 16g, I wasnt hitting full boost (12psi) till about 5300rpm's in 3rd gear almost 6k in second, so I decided to do a BLT today. When I hook my tester up to the turbo inlet I could not pressurise my intake tract more than 14psi and I was loosing alot of pressure into the crankcase, fast.
I narrowed the cause of this down to my turbo. When I hook the tester to my TB elbow I can pressurise my intake tract to 25psi within seconds and it slowly bleeds down.
So I have decided to rebuild the turbo myself, I am confedant I can do it, and I understand the procedure for the most part, but for the fact I have never rebuilt a turbo I was hopeing some of you that have done this yourself might have some usefull tips or insight that may not be in the how to's and walkthroughs I have found in my surches, I just want to make sure I soak up as much knowledge on this as I can before I dive into it. I was planing on useing Trader Gregs reuild kit,Mitsubishi TD05 TD06 Major Turbocharger Rebuild Kit any tips or advise?
thanks in advance,
Kenny
