I bought this housing new, years ago for an 18g turbo..Its suppose to be a larger housing then normal..I'm thinking about using it for my HTA68..I want to know what size it is..7,8,10 maybe ? The numbers beside the Mitsu stamp are 78-12050 080

8cm indeed. Quite a rare piece considering most of these are cut for larger turbines (TD06, TD06H) however yours appears unmolested.

The last photo illustrates just how different the angle at which the airflow enters the housing is versus a 7cm housing.

This will definitely aid any turbo with a TD05H turbine in gaining a little top end pull, possibly even raise the total airflow production a notch or two based on less turbine backpressure.

Justin, please rub some of your turbo guru magic off on me

Not to belittle, but any oldtimer should know what justin said. FP used to get them imported. BEP also used to make a badass cast stainless td05h housing that was .55AR Hahn racecraft used to have a 10cm housing, which is what came on thier super 16g's.

Either that 8cm, or the .55ar BEP housing would be the cats ass for a sleeper 20g.

these exhaust housings arent that rare. greddy sold 18g turbos for the 2g platform if you were around back then. . they came with this 8cm housing. they were 5h housings. the ones you find bored for 6h were done by FP to make the first series of FP reds.

In 12 years of servicing DSM turbos this upcoming spring, I've seen 6 true MHI 8cm2 housings in my lifetime.....two of which I own, the others were on customer turbos I serviced. So 6 out of probably 1000...that seems rather rare to me.

I recently came across this one on a 16G core I purchased...no size designation, definitely a high-nickel MHI housing, and it has the biggest internal flapper I've ever seen on an OEM DSM turbo. Inlet is 60mm at the step, and the edges of the inlet flange are contoured like an Evo III housing but this is definitely not from an Evo III turbo.
