Hi I did a search on here and with google fu. I checked turbochargers.com and only see MHI turbos for sale.

What ever happened to the EVO 3 GT they used to sell? Is it still available other places?

Does anyone know what happened with the SBR/TC.com lawsuit? Was there ever a settlement or verdict?

Thanks!

Let me just chime in with my experience on the EVO GT.

It spooled up much later than an actual MHI 16g, b16g, evo 3 16g. I dont know if the turbo the car was on was already mesed up or what, but the MHI just "felt" a lot more faster. Maybe it was an issue with too high oil pressure, although after porting the hole in the OFH on the 6bolt the car was in did not make any difference it still seemed like it was behind compared to the true MHI.

Also if you do a search there is a pretty big thread on the turbochargers.com evo gt turbo when it first came out and they were selling it. And actual members did confirm that it seem to lag and hit full boost much later. Perhaps it was something in the wastegate, who knows.

my experience with the turbo is get a mhi or if you find a really good deal on one rebuild it before putting it on your car. The one on my car now has to be rebuilt due to a blown seal and its like brand new still. Performance wise I've read that it spools a little bit slower but people have actually logged more airflow with the gt. I remember a guy with a mhievo3 ran like a 11.4 then put on the gt and ran a 11.2 and logged 44lbs with the gt and 42 with the mhi. That could have been from anything though if you don't want to rebuild it get a mhi.

Buy legit MHI. You spend $100 more for something you KNOW is going to last. My Evo316g lasted for 3 years of daily driving and abuse (and finally died after an engine rebuild. You cannot argue with that. If you want to me even more careful, add a pre-chra oil filter/basket to keep stuff from clogging your bearing inlets, and you'll be golden.

Thanks man but I have seen all of that. I went with a GT3076RLE back in 06. I just want a cheap ass turbo I can slap on in case I need a backup or after 6 bolting the Eagle. I can't see spending $599 or so on a "genuine" MHI. Don't want anyone elses problems either and would rather buy new with a warranty. Does anyone know if anyone still sells this GT turbo? Is this the $200 Big 16g that I am seeing on EBay?

Also does anyone know if the Turbochargers.com vs. Slowboy Racing lawsuit ever had a verdict or settlement? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

no Its was sold by turbochargers.com a few years ago for like 100 less than the real ones. Alot of people had problems with them and there a little bit more reliable than the ebay ones. There not sold anymore.
