I think my turbo is toast, but smoke?

ok.. i just picked up a mitsubishi starion turbo IC... its sweet.. its smokes, though.. I KNOW the turbo is through.. the shaftplay is about 2/3 of an inch.. .. but would this cause alot of smoke out of the back of the car? It also smokes right around where the turbo is bolted to the manifold, as well..

Yeaup, sounds like it's done. The Oil Seals are probably fried. That will also cause oil to leak all in and around the exhaust and burn off creating more white smoke under the hood.

yeah.. that is exactly what it is doing.. im actually in need of a 16g as a replacement, but I have a 14b that I can rebuild real quick and hopefully put on..

Im just hoping I can take the 14b compressor and cartridge, and just slide it into the exhaust housing... we shall see..

Unless both turbos are TD05H models, this probably will not work.



I have a couple rebuilt Small 16G's and an Evo III on stock. I just sold my last (2) Big 16G's.

yeah.. but how much do you want for one? i only have 300.. plus, im in cali, and it would have to be shipped.. I just called just about every single recycler to find a 12a (stock turbo) and cannot even find that.. the turbo that is on there is not rebuildable.. goddam, this is becoming a pain in the ass.. ..
