Who is running the PTE BB SCM5031RE? I've got some questions.

Ok, so I have purchased everything I need to run an evo3 16g turbo and now nobody carries them all of a sudden so I'm looking at possibly getting this PTE scm5031 instead.

Right now i already have a brand new evo3 manifold, evo3 o2 housing, and evo3 flanged downpipe from RRE. I planned on running the Mitsu evo 16g turbo internally gated. My real question is for those who have this PTE turbo, how do you recommend it being configured? If I get it internally gated will I still have to port the turbine housing like a 16g to prevent boost creep? And should I really get the exhaust housing cut? If this option would work that would be great so I can keep my new manifold and o2 housing.
If you do not thing that configuration will work and I need to go external, will external on the o2 housing be good enough? And would it still be recommended to port the path to the external gate with this setup? If I need to go this route I can get the 2nd o2 housing here with the evo angled flange option. http://www.punishment-racing.com/tial38mmo2housings.html

Thanks for any insight.:)

Internally gated for 20-25psi will work. Getting an exhaust housing cut may help if you get an o2 housing like lipp that doesn't have a divider wall. However, there are theories that a cut divider hurts turbine flow. Since you already have an EVO o2 housing, you can get either a divided or undivided turbine housing.

FYI - CanadianTsi with 11.8 on a 50 trim internally gated divided housing on pump gas.

I know this is an older Thread but why make a new one ......
I've got some Questions's myself... To Begin with I already have one, BB also
But would like to get an Idea from everyone running one What Kind of Boost/Timing Everyone Has/Is Running on Pump 92...
The Main reson I'm asking is I've already hit 26psi on about 14deg peak timing with 0 knock but I'm having Problems keeping on Ic pipes and hav'nt been able to to do much more than a 2nd or 3 gear pull (without blowing off a pipe)....and just trrin' to get an Idea of If I will be able to keep it up that high after I fix My IC pipe problems... I had planned on only runing about 22-23 till I get my dual Image chip for e85 going, but The Wastegate spring I swaped out had diferant plans.....

Yes it will hold that level without trouble. Your limiting factor right now is your IC pipes. Which also leads me to believe that you have boost leaks.

Roll/bead/hairspray, tighten and BLT. Your turbo will be happy.

Ya I Just did a BLT about a week ago and fixed all my leaks....Before I swaped the WG spring out...
Right now I just need to get a longer coupler & to bead two ends of My IC pipes they meet at an odd angle because of my SMIM
O and just to clarify you mean it will hold that level on pump gas right?
Because I beleave the turbo is capable of boosting around 31psi...

I remember that time last summer....the Evo III's were on backorder everywhere clear up and until the Shootout, and I sold (6) rebuilt Evo III's in two weeks at one point.

Damn, House....had I known you needed one, I would've had you stop by! You're a whopping four miles from me.

I have my setup in my profile. I run 20 psi on my low boost and 26+ on high. Minimal knock on 93 octane and Ive had zero problems, other than it making too much power and eating up my tranny.

All of this is with no fuel control hooked up and no wideband. I just manually turned up the timing and the car ran 14.5 @ 90mph (nothing to brag about). But the tranny was slipping all the way down the track and it knocked pretty bad in third gear, so I let out and coasted the last couple hundred feet. That night at the track it was set to 28 psi with a little creep so it might have hit 30. 1/8th mile time was 9.5 @78mph, with a 2.4 60 ft making 6psi on the line.

Get some cheap hairspray (white rain, rave) and some good hose and clamps and you shouldnt have any more pipes come off. I have yet to have one even come loose.

Yes, had I known you rebuild turbos back then. Oh well. I think it ended up taking me 6 weeks to find one, and ended up going external gate anyways.

Should have got one of these i got alot out of my old e316g but this things got way more in it...with the 16g it felt like once the power hit thats all it had and it kinda just sustained it this feals like I can step on it more and there will always be more there...I dunno just my .02

'Tuners member fwdeclipse is running one of my MHI Evo III 16G rebuilds....I set it up for him to run an external gate off the o2 housing. So far he's netted an 11.9 in his '97 GST running almost 30psi on the stock low end. Pretty impressive!

I think he holds the record for one of my 16G rebuilds. Another buddy of mine ran an 11.7 on a TD05H 20G at arond 25psi.
