I've searched but couldn't find what I was looking for. I did find a few threads that said to mount it on the manifold but there reasoning was because you can see it better? What I'm looking for is an explanation of why one is better than the other. I'm going to finally be ordering some stuff and need to decide where the wastegate will be mounted before I order the turbo.

The best place for a wastegate is at the merge collector of the manifold or the turbine housing like the FP30 series. The reason for this is that when you have it mounted on one runner of the manifold it can still overrun the wastegate. This happens because the exhaust is moving through all four runners and not just one. When you have it at the merge of all four, you can bypass the turbo with all of the exhaust gas from all four runners.

I think this needs to be explained more indepthly.

Kevin (95GSXracer) doesn't seem to be too deterred from using an external WG on a SBR Evo III manifold (other than fitment issues). You can see the discussion here.

EDIT: In this link, you can see that Kevin admits that single-runner-mounted WGs are not ideal.

Ok so something like the DN performance or SBR manifolds are the style I want since the wastegate tube is tapped into the collector? The O2 mount seems to be better for me since I plan on using the 2g manifold I have here for a while. Is there anything to worry about having the wastegate and dump tube so close to the LICP and alternator? Will the heat affect either of these in any way?
