Ok guys I am in the process of rebuilding my motor.
I will be reusing my piston and rods and arp everything.

I will be redoing my head and be adding 272
I will also be getting bigger injector and going external

I figure I will go ahead and up grade the turbo while Im at.
My goal is 450 to 500 hp and to run mid to low 11s. Does not have to be on pump!!

My question is how doable is this on a scm 50 trim? Or a t3/t4 50 trim
Should I go with something a little bigger like a scm 60 trim or 60-1 trim
Or should I just wait and get the fp3052.

So what turbo would you all suggest? I know the 3052 will give me a little bit of growing room but like I said I only want mid to lower 11s.

Thanks guys

FP turbos are definitely nice pieces of equipment, but at a slightly higher price and require a different exhaust setup due to the wasegate mounted off the exhaust housing, and the v-band setup. If you are looking for 500hp or so, I'm making 506 whp on my PTE SCM 6076BB with T04S cover.

Id say from experience get a pte sc6152 just because it leaves you room to grow if you plan to in the future. Its basicaly a non ball bearing 35r so 600whp is attainable at 30+ psi with a slightly slower spool than the bb version. Also the main factor i say this turbo is the fact that its about 5-600 dollars cheaper than the 35r.

Wow people... mid to low 11s can be done with the FP green or 3052.

Heck, even a 20g on the right setup will run mid 11s.

The answer is NOT always going with a ginormous turbo. The smaller the turbo you run, the more fun the car is around town as well. Especially when he specifies that it doesn't have to be on pump gas. I would recommend using a Forced Performance turbo, and either of those mid range sizes should work for you. Your "room to grow" will be found with tuning, mods to improve VE, and more tuning.

I'd suggest any of the GT30 CHRA series. You can get a full Garrett GT3076, a bolt-on GT3070, or even a FP3052 or 3065. The GT30 CHRA is incredible, and with the right set-up, you will have no troubles reaching your goals.

If you want to push the turbo, get a 50-trim. They can achieve your goals, but you will be really pushing the efficiency and pretty much maxing the turbo out.

I like the GT3076R series as well, but like the S258 from Borg-Warner to do the same thing, and it can be in either DSM flange or a Garrett flange. There are 2 people here running it, and so far like the BW. It was less money and didn't need to have the water lines fitted to get similar characteristics as the GT3076R. Last person did 440awhp at about 21psi.

What kind of numbers are people seeing with the 50 trim on race gas? I really like the idea of a fun car to drive on the street. Since I have dsmlink for tuning how hard would this be with a 50 trim and 110 oct.

to run an 11.5 you would be running that turbo out of it's efficiency range. You would need an efficient intercooler, possibly water/meth/alchy injection, and a special tune for race gas to do it. It CAN be done. Heck, someone on the 1/4 mile list ran a low 11 second time with an 18G.

The FP3052 would be just as much fun around town while provided a much better top end. Because of the ball bearing design, and FPs custom exhaust housing, I would expect it to spool up just as fast as a 50 trim, while still be efficient up at 30PSI or higher. I'm personally going to be running an FP green as I will most likely rebuild it somewhat often.

Look at the 1/4 mile database on this site. Click on the cars to get a list of their modifications, and take a look at trap speeds as well. It also has columns that list what turbo, with or without nitrous, etc. Looking at that list will most likely really help you out by showing you what other people have been able to do.

On a 50 trim?? A buddy of mine ran an 11.7 @117 on pump gas @ 20psi on his 50 trim setup which was at about 396 HP on the dyno here. So I don't think an 11.5 would be too hard at all on race gas with a little bit more boost.

I am shooting for flat 12's on a E3 LOL so anything larger than that with race gas on a awd with a good driver should be able to get 11's without to much trouble. I personally say a 20g or 50trim. But I like useing a smaller turbo and trying to get higher #'s out of it. Sure it requires more mods, better tuneing, more $ But the incressed streetablity of it and blazeing fast spool... just makes it more, satisfying to me.

What do you guys think about this one scm 6152e?
Im sure it will spool late; does anyone have any thoughts.
Sure would be fun at the track around 28+psi.

Thats what i said, its a great turbo, basically a 35r, but spool isnt that as bad as you think. I see 22psi (full boost) in 1st gear, so its not terrible.

There was just a thread a week or two ago about that turbo. There's a thread going on about the 3076 vs. 3052 right now. For timeslips and dyno sheets, go to the Bragging Rights section. Do your reading.
