Supercharger sound?

i have a question about my turbo. For some reason when every i go under boost it starts to sound like a supercharger. And as soon as i let off the sound is gone. Some people have told me it is my turbo, but this is the second one that it has happened with. Nither of them have had shaft play, so it couldnt be the noise of it scraping. I have no boost leaks or anything like that so it doesnt explain the slow spool. 99GST_Racer told me it could be just an exhaust leak. But with no boost leaks an slow spool i didnt think that was it. So i cant really think of what else it could be. If you have questions just ask and i will answer them

its your turbo i can hear mine spool up..... if your a block away from your car while its at wot with a stock turbo then something would definitely be wrong, but i doubt you can hear the noise you describing from that far. a supercharger you can hear it coming down from a block away... well at least my friends rsx at 7 psi i can and a 14b, your at same boost or higher i think, i dunno im a 2g and im kinda under the influence right now

yeah i am sure it is the turbo, but the thing that i dont really get is that this is the second turbo? granted the turbo on the car hasnt been ran in a year do you think that could have any thing to do with it. Like maybe that one is bad too?

Same think happened to me when i was non-turbo... haha. Everytime i got on it it sounded just like a supercharger. Im thinking its something motor-wise.

You may have the blades damaged and therefore scraping on the side causing a "whine" not unlike that of certain superchargers. Check to see if there is blade damage or if there is excessive shaft play, that could also cause the sound.

I know exactly what "supercharger sound" he is talking about. I had the same exact sound and it was the turbo. Read above what D_eclipse is saying mine was bent fins and I had no shaft play but it's the turbo 100% guranteed

Ever think it could just be a loud belt? They speed up in direct proportion to the speed of your engine...

Also, could be small cracks in the hot side of the turbo. 14b are know for cracking...

He said he is having a spooling issue. It seems more of a turbo issue but the same thing that happened to mine it was the blades where chipped and bent

Your turbo is on its way out. Check for in-out shaft play.
