Ok, this summer I plan to purchase a FP3065. I have some supporting mods already and plan on purchasing the rest of them during the winter. I have searched and read how many of you big turbo guys are using the Tial BOV. I was planning to purchase a HKS SSQV. And was wondering will the HKS SSQV hold that high of boost I plan to run, which is 28-30psi? I have read how it will not leak under any boost, and all; but I want to hear it from tuners who have actually used it. Also which other BOV do all you big turbo guys run besides the Tial BOV?

So in short these are my two questions:

1. I was planning to purchase a HKS SSQV. And was wondering will the HKS SSQV hold that high of boost I plan to run, which is 28-30psi?

2. Also which other BOV do all you big turbo guys run besides the Tial BOV?

i have a tial bov, my g/f has a HKS SSQV...they are both blow through set ups...they are my 2 favorite bovs on the market. I am not a fan of greddy because not throught personal experience yes i will admit hearsay, but anyways have heard they leak from anything above mid 20 lbs. Like i said no experience. As far as the HKS, on partial throttle it sounds like it surges, but its really the design, i think it sounds sick...as far as the big turbo guys. 90 percent of them will tell you they are running a tial bov, (which is required to run blowthrough) gm maf, and maf-translator. as well as something around a tial 44mm external gate. either way you go youll be happy man. tial will definetly hold hi boost...hks will do the trick for you also

I think you have those two backwards :)

As for the BOV, I have heard absolutely nothing but praise about the TiALs. On the other hand, you will definitely need to go blow-through with it since I don't even think they have an "outlet" (like the 1g, etc for the BOV return hose to clamp onto).

Greddy Type S. Works perfect and tests up to 30ish psi on my car. Adjustment screw all the way loose, just thread in enough to seal.

Haven't wanted to trade it out for a Tial since people complain of the Tials ability to vent well at low boost/part throttle venting type scenarios. I think it's due to the large heavy valve not being as responsive as a smaller valve. The Tials are just plain cool because of the vband clamp and construction quality. So if I ever had a problem with my Greddy, that's what I'd get.

What's most important is valve size and how much air and pressure it will "blow off" between shifts. I have used a crushed 1G and it holds 25 psi....but it has a small surface to it. Not able to release as much air or pressure between shifts as say a 50mm Tial. :thumb:

no leaks here...for a year so far. BTW, i have a buddy runnin a Tial@40psi w/ a 35R. that's on his EVO though.

2ggsx...what is it that i have backward? tial is required to run blow through you cannot recirc. you can recirc a ssqv...to run blow through (not venting) you have to have a gm maf and translator. so i guess there are a few having luck with the Type S...great to hear...but to be safe look at what 95percent on the thread have, the 2 most mentioned, and why.

Maybe you just said it wrong, After he mentioned it I noticed it as well but you say a tial is required to run in blow-through setup. When it could or should be stated that the tial requires running in blow-through setup(properly).

I must've read it wrong too, I took it as to run blow through you have to have a TiAL, my mistake.

LOL...sorry guys. i was just confused, and like hmm. making sure that i wasnt giving out false info. THANKS!!!! :thumb:

I hit 35psi with my 60-1 with a type s. I am a firm believer in the HKS bov's though. We run a racing type II bov on our race car. It works wonders. Same design as the SSQ only it has a higher capacity. I will be running a SSQ on my galant and a racing type II on the next car I build. I don't like the sound of the SSQ, but you can't beat the functionality of it. That is all that I care about. Just parts that work well.

Oh yea, the racing type II sounds just like a tial.

I would recommend a BOV from procharger. They are a little large and must be vented because there is no return for them. If you like a loud BOV I would advise a procharger.

how the BOV sounds is 2nd to me. first is that it wont leak under high boost is my main concern. i am now choosing over tial and hks ssqv both are what mainly everyone has chosen.

by the way i never heard of procharger. hows the quality? just curious

The quality of the BOV is simply amazing. There are two guys that I hang around with that are both running this BOV. One guy is running 29 psi on a YSI vortech supercharger, the car has gone 8.87 and the second guy is running one on a 1966 Chevy II with a 88mm turbo. The BOV is the same design as the tial except it is a fair big larger. Here is a link to the website if you would like pics of this BOV.
