Hey everyone, iam doing a 16g install this weekend on my 2g GST. I read that I will need one Manifold to turbo stud when doing this swap. Can someone explain why I need an extra one, Iam a little confused and I want to make sure I have everything I need before ripping everything off. Thanks for the help. :dsm:

So why would I only need one bolt? Would it be a better idea to replace all the studs with bolts. Sorry Iam a newbie, this will be my first turbo swap.

there should be 3 bolts and 1 stud stock. usually people change just the stud to a bolt, but i say go change all of them just to keep things fresh.

I use four bolts as well, the stud is, well, plain annoying when you need to yank things out quickly.

Yes, don't reuse turbo bolts especially if they're the originals, also use anti-seize when install.

Thanks for the help, would any of you happen to know what size bolts i will need to replace all the studs?

You can't just replace them with any bolt you pick up at a hardware store, turbo bolts are design to stretch under high temperature. Most of our site sponsors should carry turbo bolts, you can also get them at the dealership.

OK, one more time-- there's only one stud. There's three bolts there already. So you only NEED to remove the one stud and replace it with one bolt. oldman is suggesting also tossing the other three stock bolts and getting new ones, for a total of four new bolts. Personally, I think the three stock bolts should be fine-- just go to the stealership and buy one more bolt to replace the (1) stud.

that's what I did, re-use the three bolts and replace the stud. on a related note, on my friend's old car we used a bolt from Pep Boys to replace the stud and it worked fine.

that bolt is a big B*tch taking off and putting on the manifold, u put a bolt in there and it will save you 20 mins avery time u have to take off that manifold.
