Turbo Inlet Gasket Blown

Anyone ever have this happen? I'm talking about the manifold to turbo gasket (inlet). I had a 7cm gasket from the forced performance install kit with a ported manifold and ported EVOIII 16g. I started hearing an exhaust leak shortly after installing my dsmchip, and low and behold it looks like the gasket has sort of been shot out of the sides.

I'm wondering if there is a different gasket I should try, like a factory mitsu evo one? Sucks that I have to pull the whole turbo off to replace the one gasket.

I'd first check to make sure your manifold to turbine bolts haven't backed out causing the leak.

Not sure which turbine inlet gasket you have (copper or MLS), but I've reused my Mitsu MLS several times and still going strong :dsm:

He's right, a stainless steel turbo to mani gasket is the best one you can get because it wont blow out and its reusable.
 
OEM 7cm gasket is the only way to go, I've never had any luck with any of the aftermarket ones. Also, why would you remove the whole turbo? Just pull the 4 bolts, slide the old one out, and slide the new one in.
 
Ya steve is right all you do is slide the old one out and the new one in. I had to do it 3-4 times this year. Now all i do is a thin layer of hi-temp RTV and bolt them together.

I do something similar and won't go back. A thin layer of wheelbearing grease. Drive it easy long enough for it to burn off and leave a hard layer of carbon. Haven't had it fail me on several DSM's yet.
