Siezed Turbo question?

All stock 90 FWD Talon...dont need any upgrades, cant afford any as of yet so just be happy to get her going nicely again...pulled off intake boot and cant turn the rotor inside...any of you been able to just clean the whole unit and it work again?...i did a search for siezed but didnt find the info i wanted???any help will be appreciated.......Poor Man TA kimble

You might be able to get a rebuild kit, I dont know about a 14b or just buy a used 14b of a user in the classifieds.

Besides replacing the turbo, did you ever find the cause? You don't want to put another turbo in to have the same thing happen again.

I've only begun to start looking at the problems....just have it opened enough last nite to try and turn rotor by hand,(or fingers), so no, i have a good idea what cause is....6-9 months since oil change and 190,000 miles....(yes iknow i was a dumbass for not diligently changing the oil)I found a rebuild kit on e-bay for like 89 bucks...i am wondering how difficult it will be to do?

Not difficult to re-build it but it will needs to be balanced.

I think it will be cheaper to buy a used 14b off some junk yard.

The kit i seen on e-bay doesnt really show anything would need balacin as it replces bearings and such....explain more if you can?

It needs to be balanced just like balancing a wheel so it doesn't wobble.

Ok need a lil extra help now...in the pics there is a couple of retaining clips...where do you get the tools to get them out? And do they release the housing to come apart futher?

Im looking for Oldman... I have an e-mail sent to a turbo shop I purchased the rebuild kit from, asking them about the balancing...do you know if they have a special machine that does this or if the turbine wheels just have to be cleaned off really well? As to the cause, the dust cover got so much build up in it, it then pushed against the exhaust turbine.
