I installed a 1st gen uncrushed bov in my 98 gst spyder and a air intake, and for some reason it is loud as ****. I love the sound but from reading many post I know that it is not good for speed and your car. I have everything hooked up and everything plugged and going back to the intake so i dont know where the noise is coming from. I love the noise from the intake, but each time I shift it lets out a really loud noise. I checked to make sure everything is tightly connected, do I just need another 1st gen bov maybe? Thanks for any help!!

is this the first time driving w/ a hard intake pipe? if so , you can ofter hear the turbo spooling and the air intake a lot louder w/ a hard intake pipe. Also check for boost leaks. They can be loud

Ok yes, it is my first time with a hard intake pipe and I noticed that I could hear the turbo a lot louder, I didnt know that the shifts would be so loud also, but I guess that makes sense if that is where the boost is going. Yes the recirculation tube is connected to the intake so I guess I am good to go. Thanks!!

As long as it's not a fluttering sound, which can meancompressor surge, then it's perfectly normal.

at times you will hear a small flutter though, like say in 4th gear going 25mph and quickly build up 10psi of boost then let off the gas, you will usually hear a little flutter but in that gear at that low of rpms its normal

i'm sure that's what it is also. I remember i was quite surprised the first time I drove with my metal intake, the 1st gen BOV is pretty loud on my car when it's recirculated.

Mine did the same after hard IC pipe was installed. I guess the metal conducts sound better.
