Hey i was justwondering if the reason maybe my oil pressure is dropping so low is because i do not have a oil cooler.. I know that turbos produce a lot more heat than N/t, b/c its only way to cool turbo, but i mean. its going from like 80.. all the way down to about 15... this is after if runs for a while at idle. when i get up on it, it gets up to maybe 50... Do i need a cooler will this all go away?

Sounds like oil pump possibly failing. You can check the tolerances on the oil pump to find out if its bad or not.

Or is this the oil pressure at the turbo?

If not where are you measure oil psi from?

Sounds normal to me. Oil moves more freely when it's warm and pressure builds as rpms build. For example my car at startup sees 6kg of pressure at idle when it's warm it sees 1 kg at idle. Under acceleration it goes back up again to around 6kg.

yup he's right on.. Oil thins out and moves easier when warm. mine pegs around 100psi when it first starts and drops to 15-20psi at idle, and back to around 100psi during WOT

Hey, my car was originally a non-turbo and i put the turbo motor in it, and it didn't come with one. I'm measuring my oil pressure from around the oil pump when you screw in the sending unit. I bought a cooler from a junk yard, well i didn't buy it but i got one. It was originally a trans cooler.. can it work for an oil cooler?? If so will oil pressure rise a little bit? I would like it to maybe be lowest at 20psi, but its going down to 15 but no lower.. But yes, when accelerating, it jumps up to 80 or something around there. Thanks.
