So I knew I had been burning oil, at least a little bit but I didnt think my oil level was that low. It is down to a 1/4 way above the minimum mark on the dipstick. My turbo is used, has a cracked exhaust housing. 90,000 miles at least on the turbo. Fresh engine, leaking a bit from the valve cover gasket. Havn't done a compression test yet but I plan on it. Have about... 5500 miles on the engine now. Is it possible that I'm just burning it off on from the valve cover gasket? Or could I possibly have some bad turbo seals :(

Has been running for like.. 2 1/2 months now, changed the oil like.. 2000 miles ago

Anyways, any info would be helpful, thanks :)

Been asking my mechanic the same thing... he's saying that turbo engines are going to burn oil no matter what you do... the turbo will get some play after (to him) a short time, and start burning that. I've got a pair of other leaks (CAS and unidentified seam just above the dipstick tube join point) and tend to lose a quart or so a week.

there is definitely some shaft play. when i checked out the fins on the turbo i have now they were pretty dark, not sure if that matters. a little worn too. the turbo didnt really look in the best of condition.. :-/

my engine burned more oil than usual when i first had it built i believe thats normal until the oil works its way into all the seals. it is true all turbo cars are going to burn oil quicker than most others. but i have 18k miles on it now and its burning A LOT less than it was when it was new

my turbo is definitely in need of a rebuild. So far im convienced that this is the problem of my oil burning problems, but im kinda drunk right now. im looking at 16g's and whatnot but who knows ............wtf am i talking about.......

ok, you guys are the coolest :)
thanks for the reply's so far
