this is kinda noobie but is there a IAT sensor on the 2G Turbo's after the IC or does anybody know how to get the temp after the IC and close the the intake?

i know that but i want a custom sensor or some thing so i know if and when my turbo starts pushing hot air and when my IC ins't cooling.

For logging the know the ambient air temp is good but doesn't help when i don't know the Air temp getting in to the cylinders. I don't know if the air temp is higher the same or below ambient.

ahh, ok. You asked about the IAT. that is what I answered.

I'd also like to have what you are describing too.

I think you can get a thermostat with a probe. I've seen people put them in thier throttle body before.

thanks for you help, let me know if you find anything worth trying

I used to have a small IC that had a 2-speed fan blowing up thru it. To monitor the IAT I used a battery powered indoor-outdoor digital thermometer I bought from Edmund Scientific. The outdoor part had a sendor on a long wire which I had protruding into the TB elbow. This was a cheap and dirty way to read temps. The only down side was it was a little slow to respond to change.

That method does work, but like he said, it is slow to react, so will only read temperatures that have been constant for a couple seconds.

You cannot relocate the stock IAT sensor, because the ECU needs to know what the temperature of the air is as it goes through the MAF in order to calculate the flow rate.

You can get all kinds of temperature probes, ranging from 3 to 300 bucks.

The temperature after the IC is always going to be hotter than ambient, it's how much hotter that matters.
