laptop or PDA compatible dont matter. just wondering as i already blew a bunch if cash on the translator!

I went with a Palm pocketlogger and have had nice results with it, as for a laptop I personally would only use it if you were going with DSMlink or another tuner.

Freeware is good. I read the entire page. One thing though.
"For 1g DSM's you will need an ALDL cable. Where do you find one? You're the ####ing genious, you figure out." They say the same for OBDII cars. I have a 2g and I'm the first one that will tell you that I'm not a "****ing genious". Where can I get the cables to hook it up?
Has anyone used this freeware program?
thnx in advance

they aren't ready to be sold yet, they are awaiting the OBDI connectors. i am debating on going through them or just getting a m500 palm w/ pocketlogger, since it's small and i know that if i need help with the software i can get it. they don't offer software support.

I was under the impression that the free software you can download was the Tunerstein software, not the Pocketlogger software. I have no personal experiance with it but people have told me that Tunerstein is much more inferior than the Pocketlogger software. I have a pocketlogger and it works great, except my palm sucks and the cable falls out if i shift too hard heh. I plan on getting a new palm with a better backlit screen anyway.

the cable from dsm parts looks different compared to the one that i saw. the guy's that i saw, just plugged into the OBDII port. it idnt have mutiple wires like the other one. anyone know where i can get one of those cables?

i'll let ya know how this works, i have my connector in the mail!

how about a one-up on this question: what's the general consensus on the best pda to buy for just datalogging?

the best price/screen size/os palm is what i got...the IIIxe

ok, i got it all up and running. i am currently using the laptop but will give the palm a whirl later. it works, for free software, it works GREAT. has some pretty cool layouts, etc etc. i like it all in all.

all for less then palmlogger software and cable

no, he doesn't sell them as a buy now on e-bay. which is probaly why he paid $73 for it. although if you e-mail him they are $49 shipped (or check the thread in the classifieds sectin). i am getting my for $65 shipped, because I want to pay COD (he doesn't except paypal anymore)

so there are lots of posts for different things that might work...

the real question:

WHICH ONES WORK WELL FOR CHEAP? WHICH ONE HAVE YOU USED? WHAT CABLE ACTUALLY WORKS WITH THE FREE SOFTWARE?

i think it would make sense to buy the package from the guy over ebay. maybe we should contact him as a group? that way we're not all bidding up the price against each other? ;)
