You don't need an AFC until you get larger injectors. There is no purpose. The only thing you will do is hit fuel cut even faster than you probably already are.

Not sure who you are telling this to, but I'll disagree with you. I could use one right now. Stock 450's, everything ported and full exhaust, I can hit fuel cut on a nice cool morning. If I could strap that 2G MAS in that is sitting on my shelf, I could delay fuel cut and maybe get a little more boost. I can't throw the 2G in until I have an AFC or unless I get a 1991/up ECU with +/-40% fuel trims.

Actually you're right. You could benefit from an AFC after MAS swap/hack. Most people who are hacking/swapping a MAS know when to get an AFC. I'm addressing all the people who get AFCs because it is blue and silver and then they turn their high settings up to +30% because "more gas = more power".

What, it doesn't? ;) I know what you mean.

i'm installing my afc and my evo o2 housing saturday and i still didnt get my injectors yet, but i'm just wandering if i should leave all the settings at 0? or should i do any kind of adjustments?

If you have a fuel pump like a walbro and a datalogger you could probably sqeeze a couple more pounds a boost out of the stock injectors but I don't recommend it. You'll probably just hit fuel cut.

Later,

You can't really do much, if anything. You could probably go a little leaner, maybe 3-5% if you are running 15psi or less. But I wouldn't bother. If you are running higher boost and you go rich for more fuel you'll just hit fuel cut. You need to log the car and experiement. You'll probably find that everything is fine as is.

If you are on the stock turbo you have no need for either larger injectors or an AFC.

actually a buddy of mine in a 2G TSI FWD with intake, 3" catback, and I THINK a boost controller set to 15psi gained either 18 or 28hp on the dyno being tuned with an AFC and stock injectors.

I had my car datalogged yesterday with my new (used) T25 (I blew my original one) and I got the best timing when I ran -1% of fuel from 1000rpm to redline. I'm running 16lbs on a ProfecB with stock fuel pump (for now... have the Walbro255 in my room), full 3", HKS bov and I/C pipes. For the mods I have now I prob don't even need the SAFC but one day it will come in handy.

You are a perfect example of both the extent of what you can do with an AFC and stock injectors and exactly what you should do with an AFC and stock injectors. I applaud you. I'm serious.

My *small* FP T28/28 is overflowing my stock injectors at 15psi on pump gas. 103% duty cycle is the appetizer, knock is the main course.

I just got the B&M fuel pressure gauge, and I'm datalogging everything with a DSMLink. As I replace parts in the fuel system, I will record and log everything.

All I can tell you so far is that that my base fuel pressure, at 0psi in the manifold (no vacuum or boost) is 46psi. I got this by turning the engine on, then removing the pressure tube that goes from the manifold to the stock FPR solenoid, so it was seeing 0psi. With the pressure tube attached, it was 38psi base fuel pressure. However, I feel the 0psi reading is more useful, since everyones car idles differently.

I tried this with and without the fuel pump rewire on the stock pump. It stayed at 46psi of fuel pressure. This tells me the stock FPR has no problem with the extra fuel provided by the fuel pump rewire.

Yeah, but if he had VP C16 in that bad boy, he could lean it out like a freak show!

117 octane gas = great way to maximize the fuel system you have. ;)

"Tune for knock" :p

1G with full exhaust and 2G pistons, at 12psi, will need to be richened slightly. I rebuilt my friend Todd's engine when he bought his car and used 2G pistons. It gets a count of 15 from 3-4k and tapers off after that.

Now, with that said, is it critical to have an AFC and injectors if you're running a FMIC and the stock turbo? I'm about to make my next purchase... don't get me wrong, an AFC and injectors will go on along with a front mount - it's just a matter of which one to do first.
