Connecting to LC-1 wb

Ok so I need to change the setting on my wb since it's showing a way off number. However when I connect the serial port to the computer it doesn't recognize it. I tried every sort of combination of setups to get it to work but nothing. What am I doing wrong here?

I had to buy a serial to usb adapter and then it worked fine

I, too, used a serial-to-USB adapter. The one I bought from Radio Shack for DSMlink V2 worked just fine with connecting my LC-1.

I think I'm running that same converter cable.

If you look under the device manager, does the cable even show up under ports.

I spent $40 on one of those serial to usb cables and it still doesn't work. What is going here!

You do have the ignition on the 'ON' position when you're trying to connect, right?

Perhaps a problem with the computer you're using?

Do you have the correct drivers installed? Any device conflicts?

Ignition is on, I even tried it with the car running.
I had to download the program from innovate because I lost the disc that it comes with. I have tried this on two different computers. One of them has vista which asks to insert the disc to install the drivers but I'm not sure what to do about that.

Which version of the Innovate software are you trying to use? IIRC, many people were having issues with one of the newer versions (myself included). I downloaded an older version and it worked flawlessly.

Ok I've been trying 3.25. I'll try this on in a minute, but I'm almost positive it's just going to ask me for the drivers. I found a folder for drivers in the program but when I try to install it, it doesn't seem to do anything. I can't find driver software on their site. It seems I might be f*cked without the disc.

Hrmm, try uninstalling it and just doing it from scratch.
