Sorry If This post is long and not fully understandable since I'm not really fluent in english.
Anway, I have encountered a CEL after installing a 1G CAS in my 2G. You might ask yourself why did you put that on your 2g? Simply, it was because when I rebuilt my engine, and tried to take my intake camshaft out, I F*K up the 95-96 Fixed CAS. So I actually read about the 1G CAS in your 2G vehicle and how it has its advantages, and I decided to go with that route!
I used Road Race Engineering's Method to Install this CAS(I'm sure there is a Tech post here with pics being done to a 95 AWD talon).
Here is a link to show you guys what I'm talking about
:
RRE 1G CAS IN 2G
I used "method 2" to create my CAS wire harness.
I Also switched the injector trigger wires since I searched and found out that a lot of folks that do this mod, get a CEL because of a RANDOM misfire at idle.
(my coil pack signal is inverted so it now reads 3-2-4-1)
Here are the following things that I have checked with an ohms meter and tested good:
Coil Pack
injectors
plug wires.
I ALSO GOT NEW SPARK PLUGS
I have also took out #1 cyl spark plug wire wire the engine is on to see if it would have any effect, but I guess it was conducting signal since the engine started to rumble when I pop it out slightly.
Anyway, Here is the situation: I drive the car at the same rpm, and the same speed for a good 4-5 mins and then suddently the car feels like if it has gone into this "mode"(you even feel it) and the engine struggles really bad for the rmps to go up and the car to speed up. If the car is "COLD" it won't do this for the first couple minutes......If I "city drive" this car (shift gears often) this problem seems like it never existed!
Also, it does it when the car is FULLY warmed up. I'm thinking the CAS might have something to do with this. I have a 91-92 CAS in this car and want to upgrade to a 93-94 Hall effect CAS.
Is this what happens when you have a faulty CAS>????? Some advice please. Thanks for reading so much guys.
Tony
