Ok, me and a friend were having an arguement last night about the 1g maft vs. the 2g and the gm maft.

He said theres no way without major hacking to the 1g maft that i couldn't break 300 awhp with a 50-trim. I said the opposite that i could no problem. I know a lot of people do the 2g maft swap but i just got a intake made that is for the 1g maft and if is need to go with another maft to reach my goals ill be a little
Whos right?

my goal is 350+awhp on pump

The mafs aren't good for a certain horsepower. They are good for a certain amount of airflow.

It is hard to undersand what your asking also since you have the t after maf every time you mention maf. Do you havea stock 1g maf or a gm maf with maft?

I would sure think the 1g MAF could meter enough air to make 300whp. Thats only like what low to mid 30lb/min?

I have heard the 2g MAF is good up untill about 50lb a min and the GM MAFT just a bit more.

(Someone correct me if I am wrong, I hate misinformation)

No one said exactly that, what we were trying to make clear is that the amount of air you pump in your engine and the amount of HP you make don't always go hand in hand. So one car might make 300hp of 30lb/min of air flow and another might only make 300hp at 35lb/min. How well the car is tuned, cams, fuel choice, type of injection system if there is one etc. all make a difference in the amount of HP you get from X amount of air.

HOWEVER you can get a ball park figure that to make X amount of HP you will need to push about Y amount of air. That being said I can't say for sure how much you would need to make your goal.

I can tell you I have read over on the Link forums that the 1G MAF is only good up to 2000hz not sure what that is in lb/min and the GM MAFT setup up to about 4400hz again not sure what that is in lb/min which is the way I think of air flow. The 2g MAF is some where in the middle and suposed to support cars up to about 500hp before the signal from it starts to get choppy.

So for only 300hp the 1G maf might do, but if your goal is 350+whp then I would say at least look at the 2G MAF... the GM MAFT while supperior in ways can also be a PITA...trust me I know, I have it. It's nice at times too though...kinda LOL.

I think you will have a problem hitting your goal with a 1g maf. I have seen people on dsmlink forums with 16g's overrun the 1g maf with 16-17psi. So, compared to them you would need to run less boost than this to not overrun the maf. They have dsmlink though and were able to use the fake maf function once they overran their maf. You are not able to do this so you will have driveability issues if you overrun it.

Just for reference, the 3" and 3.5" GMAF does not COMPLETELY overrun until 4400Hz. However the signal will start to become choppy at 3600+Hz. 2G MAF overruns at 2400Hz. 1G MAF overruns below 2000Hz
