There is a group of us going to a local awd dyno, last year we used 4th gear but someone suggested that 3rd gear would be a lot easier on the drivetrain. Would the numbers be the same or would 4th give you lower #. thanks

Accurate readings should be done in 4th gear. Do not post up dyno results in 3rd gear as they are worthless.

We do our dyno competitions in third only. Plus, would you want to load the motor for that long. Things get real hot on the dyno. Should see no differences if not 1-2%. Most of the time when someone does a 4th gear pull here we have them do another in third and they see no differences. Could just be room temperatures, dyno inconsistencies, and a hunderd other factors. But, the numbers will be no different.
