Find a local electronics repair shop and have them do it so you dont have to send it out. If they dont have a socket, go to radioshack...they have em.

check out a tv repair shop. Or a place that will build you a computer. They can do the type of work needed to socket your ecu.

Don't use the cheap sockets you find at radio shack. You want a machine pin socket.
The 2G ECU's are very fragile (much more so than a 1G) when it comes to desoldering the EPROM so you can install the socket. I get a couple a month where somebody tried and made a mess out of it.

Where did you buy your DSMLink and why didn't they take care of helping you get your ECU socketed?

Dave at ECMtuning has an ECU repair business at his home. He charges $30 + $8 shipping and it typically comes back 2 day air. I don't remember where ECMtuning (dsmlink) is, but I got my ECU/socketed/installed/tested for $38, I had it back in my car 3 days after he touched it & I live in Washington State. Besides, Even though he doesn't actually affiliate his side business with ECMtuning the customer service and reliability of himself and those he works with is better then any other company I've ever come into contact! There should be no other choice...

So hopfuly it wont be expensive but they probly will be cause I always get the expensive crap lol but thanks if they are to high ill look for other places like yall said.

ECM tuning is in Maryland and yes i would just have them do it. Dave even fixes stuff he sees that may be on its way out on the ECU.
Mine also took less than 2 days.

Did it turn out ok? I can't quite tell if it's done or that you dropped it off to be done.
