well ive desided that i want to start upgrading my fuel system.i would like to do the fuel pump,rail and injectors.i need to know if this will work or will it run like #@%#@%#@%#@%. i wanna put a fuel rail with pressure gauge from dsm stuff,pressure regulator(i dont know what will work),buschur stage 1 pump,and stock 450cc turbo injectors.will this work on a non-turbo or is it too much gas even with an adjusted pressure. i have a injen intake and full exhaust.i need to know if this will work cause im gettin money for my birthday.
 
oh yea i forgot,i would like to run this all motor too.i wanna see what i can squeeze outta this motor without turbo.
 
ive been thinkin about it because im gonna get the head done up wit new cams in the very near future.i need a few more bolt ons and i should be good.im gonna do the pulleys right after the holidays.and i havent figured out what to do with the fuel(aminly cause i dont know that much about it).i dont know size wise,injector size.fuel rail,and pump sizes.i dont know what n/a will take without runnin rich.
 
Why would you need more fuel? Stock injectors on a NA DSM are efficient enough for just about anything except forced induction, of course. The only thing injectors do is match the air going into the engine. So, unless you're forcing air into your engine via turbo, supercharger, or nitrous, then you really don't need to up grade your injector size. Even if you up the compression or something like that, the only thing you need to do is run higher octane gas, as the higher the octane, the less likely detonation will occur.

There's a lot more things you need to do instead of upgrading your turbo. Build your bottom end, get cams/gears, upgrade the valvetrain, etc. etc.

Think about what you're doing before you do it.

the dsm fuel rail can flow enough fuel to support a easy 500-600 hp, your injectors are plenty big. All a non turbo with EVER need without CRAZY modifications is a B&m command flow. Raising the base fuel pressure to 43 psi will alow PLENTY of fuel, and MAYBE a stock dsm turbo fuel pump....good for 15 psi or so....alot more then you will ever need.

Spend the money on real mods.

im gettin a parts motor soon and i wanna build it from the block up. how much power do you think i can get n/a outta the n/a motor.i was stuck on the fuel system tihng cause i dont know that much about that area.since my injectors are enough im prolly gonna upgrade the fuel pump and thats it for gas then.thanx for the fuel feedback,and not tearin into the new guy that bad.

get the valve springs and retainers and so forth built to handle revving to 9k. 250
knife edge the crank 200
eliminate the balance shafts 50
lightened flywheel 400
pulleys 250
extrude honed intake manifold 375
ubgraded TB : 200-300

Blue printing, balancing and assembly with arp hardwear : 1k

This should get you solid high 13's to low 14's with good driving, and about 180 crank hp.

Or buy a 195 crank hp detuned turbo engine for 900 dollars....

i have a pacesetter header,hi flow cat,and cat-back.im choppin the muffler off and puttin a n1 on.how much will i put 2 the wheels on 93 octane gas.and what will it take to do the turbo motor swap.
 
You need a custom header, the pacesetter is shitty. You'll want1/34 inch primaries maybe, expect about 400 dollars, maybe 600 dollars on that. You need a full real exhaust as well. Not just a muffler, afetr all this you might get 170 to the wheels.

Turbo swap. buy a engine (895) get a turbo ecu for 100, a turbo mas for 50, a turbo IC and IC piping for 50, bov for 50...install it, run the wires for the knock sensor and additional mas wire to the ecu,

go fast
 
if im gettin the motor and stuff cheap, cant i just go aftermarket ic and piping.im gonna swap it neway.and i need to find a shop in nj thatll do the swap the right way.
 
no pansy here.i can get my hands on nething i need in tools,and my uncle is a mechanic thatll help me with everything.hes got a lift too.will the whole thing bolt up.like the motor mounts,tranny mounts.the ecu,is that hard to do.i just wanna know what im jumpin into.im kinda new at this but im not.i can do it but i need to know what it requires parts wise.if its doable i wanna do the swap over the winter.
 
thanx for the help man.i really apreciate it.i think im swappin over to turbo then.n/a is koo but turbo is so much better.im gonna check out prices and stuff and investegate. hopefully i should be boosted soon.
 
I'm having trouble with the fuel...I dyno'd my car and it turned out 108 whp without NOS and 162 with NOS, but it ran totally lean until 6,000 rpm when it became rich. Has anyone else ran into this problem on a N/A Eclipse and if so, how did you fix it. Was it with a better fuel pump, injectors, or a S-AFC? Any feedback would be of great help...
 
Nah, If I had a 1G n/t 2 liter and wanted a front wheel turbo, I would yhave it turbo in a weekend for 1k, easy as cake. Been there, done that, not hard.

how would i turbo it. i dont wanna run only like 5 or 8 psi. i wanna run a pretty good boost level.
 
i bought a 1990 turbo bottom end for the motor today.complete with the rods and pistons.im gonna build my head good for 9k,bigger hks cams,valve springs,and cam gears.porting the head for oversized valves( .5mm) and im puttin the rest together.im gonna run a big rod/95 8:5:1 piston setup with the block bored 40 over.should kick some ass.well ill keep ya posted:thumb:
 
Well if you are building this killer bottom end to be NA then you have a very poor setup chosen. Its a good setup for a turbo application , but all wrong for NA. HKS cams are far from ideal for NA. Also 8.5:1 compression isnt nothing. Building a good NA 4g63 needs to be approached completely differently than what is common in the turbo world. I have yet to see anyone build a decent NA motor.

at 8.5: 1 you'll max out at about 125 hp, and maybe 115 using those cams, but have fun

i plan on running the block turbo.i was goin to go n/a.i prolly shoulda said that. my bad.
