My car can't be smogged because the OBD-II computer is saying it's not ready. Apparently there is a very difficult procedure to get the car "ready" after the power has been interrupted. There is a TSB for it, but I can't seem to find the full TSB anywhere. If anyone could help with either the TSB or the procedure to get my Mitsu Eclipse GSX 97 back to being ready, I would greatly appreciate it.

Please, do not waste your time on the drive cycles. They are virtually impossible to complete unless you have 200 miles of open road in front of you. Some of them also require you to turn off the car after completing the cycle. DUH, that's what causes the monitors to reset.

You will have to go to the dealer and pay them to hook you up to the MUT-II and increase the sensitivity of the readiness monitors. They will then drive the car and hook it up to the emissions machine. Once you pass and shut the car off, the monitors will return to the "not ready for testing" state. What a freakin' rip off!

Last year it cost me $118 to have the dealer do this. It seems amazing that they can charge us to temporarily fix their defect. It also sounds illegal to me.

Oh, lastly,

Are you sitting down??

I read another thread in a different forum on this earlier...... They just upped the price. The guy ended up paying $238. I guess they weren't making enough money on their own screw-up :toobad: Post #4.

I hate Satan. Can someone say, class action lawsuit.

Here is a thread I started last year while going through this problem:
