I have read the features of dsm link over and over again and if i'm not retarded I beleive dsm link has no option of boost control and you can't use a straight blow through unit, no maft or anything. If i'm wrong please correct me guys.

DSM Link has no option to control boost, youll need an electronic or manual one for that. It does however work with the MAF and Translator, little harder to tune, but it all works out the same as with the stock MAF.

Dsmlink does not provide boost control. They are currently working on being able to use a GM maf without the translator, however when i contacted them about this, they said not for another 5 months or so. I'm not sure what else is coming out with "V3" but i do know that if they were smart they'd start marketing it with drops about what new features it will have.

Why is it harder to tune with the translator? Can't you just zero out the translator and tune with the link?

so basically it would be a waste to get the maft setup? Better off just getting an intake and keeping the stock maf? Also the whole speed density thing what exactly is that?

Yes, stick with a 2g MAS. DSMlink is easy as it comes as far as tuning is concerned. It is the MAFT that is the issue, it just isnt a good system, it causes many headaches when it comes to calibrating itself to read just like the factory meters.

Speed density is a air metering system in which a Map sensor and an intake air temp sensor are used in order to determine how much air is entering the motor and therefore how much fuel to add. Because it is map sensor and IAT sensor based, you have little, if no interruption of the airflow in the system unlike an actual air meter that sits in the intake stream. In addition since the air is metered generally around the intake manifold, the MAFT blow through idea becomes obsolete. They havent created a setup such as this for dsmlink, however there has been talk about it possibly being in a future release. Dave and Tom are smart and dont generally devulge much information about future releases, as it looks bad on a vendor to make promises and not keep them, or make a release date promise and not keep it. This is why you dont see anything about V3. Believe me, the current version is incredible, and has enough features to keep you happy until V3 comes out.

So I should just get V2, a hardpipe intake, a boost controller and just leave the stock maf sensor. what do you guys recommend for a boost controller when using V2?

The boost controller is completely seperate from DSMlink. If you want to spend the money get a Profec B, or you can be cheap and stick with a manual controller. Get whatever boost controller you feel necessary, but any controller will work fine with DSMlink as they are two completely seperate entities that are independent of one another. Id definately say stick with the stock 2g MAS. The hardpipe is up to you, but if you have money to burn I say go for it. I created mine out of ABS plastic and it cost me all of 30 dollars total. I took the time to trim it and clean it up to the point it looks almost like a mandrel bent aftermarket piece. I just simply used 2 90* street elbows, and cut the flared ends off and sanded/mated those cut ends together and then painted the assembly a nice flat black. It has held up for a good 2-3 years now.
