2G MAS in a 1G car, like or dislike?
I recently installed a 16G and just got back from tuning. I am running:
2Gmas
AFCII
Map sensor mod
550's
dual stage boost controller (11psi/20psi)
Stock sidemount IC
Full 3" exhaust
I got her tuned in good @ 11psi yesterday. I tuned for 20psi today. I hit fuel cut a few times but I think I have some boost leaks. Anyway I have been running a 2G mas for several months. I can't tell if I like it or not. I am going to describe a few issues I have in hopes that some of you also using 2G mas can compare.
1- Engine seems to hiccup when letting off throttle slightly.
2- Low fuel trims shoot to 118.7 for no reson them come back down.
3- Constantly fiddling with AFC settings due to weather etc...
4- Must feather throttle on engine decelleration or it stalls.
I want to get a GM MAFT obviously, but if I can tune these issues out I'll stick with this set up. I just think that this 2G MAS set up may be too high maintenence. What do you think?

i am going to install my 2gmas set up in a couple days. but im also going to install the keydriver chip. You should try looking at that. Theres a setting on it to set the MAS. dsmchips.com is the web site. That might solve some of the probs. ill post up as soon as i get my set up installed.

The 2g mas in a 1g is a good setup normally. It sound like you still have some fine tuning to do for #'s 1 & 2.
#3, get used to it. When ever the weather changed by more than 20* I had to fine tune all over again. Even now with the GM translator and a DSMchip eprom I still fine tune with temp changes.
#4, Sounds like a possible ISC problem you may want to look in the VFAQ section for the testing methods of the ISC. A bad ISC can cause stalling problems on deceleration.

I had prblem #1 when I had a 2g mas. I have a couple of friends that had the same problem. Now Ive got gm maf and no more issues.
For #2 and 4, check to make sure the single wire sensor at the throttle linkage is hooked up and functioning properly. I cant remember the proper name of it but it lets the ecu know when the throttle is closed. It should have continuity between the top terminal and ground with throttle is closed and no continuity when the throttle is open.
#3, get used to it.
EDIT: I even had keydiver eprom compensation for the 2g mas and couldnt tune the hiccup out.

Well this is wierd, I swapped all my parts into another '90 we got. And I sold mine on ebay. This car runs and drives perfectly compared to the same exact setup on the other car. It's easy to tune, no hiccups etc... I don't know why but I'm not complaining.
