Installed 2g maf, and 680 injectors... car wont tune??

OK something isnt doing what it is supposed to do at the moment.... i installed some 680's and a 2g maf today and then tried tuning it. Well with the base fuel pressure at 38ish, and the SAFC set to -30 across the board, the car was running LEAN... it was pretty bad. I was told from people on here to start at -30, so i did... Then i started to tune it and it started getting better but i was goin into the positves on the safc... now that is a crap load of fuel! i know something isnt right... im suspecting maybe a leak in the intake between the turbo and MAF.... The O2FT are acting weird.. sometimes they are at 130%, some times 40% and sometimes 100% THe low fuel trim keeps dancing around too... Tomorrow im gonna do a boost leak test (dont think that is the problem, vacuum is still at -19), Look over my wiring again, and then im gonna go over my intake tube and make sure none of the clamps are leaking.... Anyone else got some ideas? Please throw them out there for me. I gotta get this thing wroking good by noon, so i can get to the track and fine tune it some more. Thanks for your time.

Ryan

Dont worry about being in the positive range. My car is in that range with 680's and a 2g MAS. Mine was at +22 on the low at 1000rpm. Just tune it to how your car likes it. Dont worry what the values are at on the low.

When you open it up WOT, your settings will find themselves going into the negative range by 7000rpm.

your MAF is probably hacked.

to the thread starter, 2G MAF and 680s, you'll probably end up in the -18 area.. i'd try starting out around -12 if i were you. assuming a stock 2G MAF. if it's hacked, start at all 0s

well i spent all day yesterday tryin to get this thing running right. I even redid my intake pipe to make sure there wasnt any unmetered leaks. Iv got the low fuel trims pretty much taken care of, but i cant figure out the HI settings. I started at -10 yesterday across the board. It ran pretty good with NO knock till higher RPM's then it started to sputter. So i turned down the trims to -12 across the HI side.... same thing. I turned it down to -15....same thing ... i got it at -18 and the sputter is gone but the logger shows knock counts of 40ish. Im starting to think that maybe i should put them back at -12, and start leanin out the rpm's that its stuttering at.

at the moment they are still at -18 .... and it backfires pretty good everynow and then..... this is pretty frustrating... and now for some reason my car likes to dir... haha... ohh well, one problem at a time i guess... Now i gotta figure out why i didnt get an email when you 2 responded to it.....

make sure your base timing is correct... with big injectors like that you may need to retard it a little to get rid of pump gas knock

iv been wondering about that.... see the only way i have of checking the timing at the moment is with the logger... and im pretty sure thats with the advanced.. it usualy sits around 8deg at idle on the logger. I dont have a front timing cover at the moment, so i cant hook up a light and check it. I was wondering if i could just mark the CAS, and kick it back a little... then check the logger to see what its at? ... damn i need a cover

you need the timing cover. the logger always assumes a base of 5.. i ended up having to retard my base timing to 3 to get rid of pump gas knock, running 660s @ 45PSI base fuel pressure... if you don't have the timing cover you can mark the CAS and just give it a little tap in the retard direction and keep doing so till it makes a difference (even the slightest movement is nearly 1 degree), the only problem is you don't know exactly where you are in terms of base.. timing light and the cover is teh only real way to do it i know of.. hope that helps

i did a few runs and logged them about an hour ago... im getting knock in 4th gear. 13 counts, then it tappers down to 10. sure i can tune it out with a few more runs. I am now getting 22* of timing at WOT at 6000rpm

i've found it to be kinda hard sometimes to get completely rid of knock in 4th gear on pump gas, i'd just try to keep it down to a minimal.. some people will end up running so rich to get rid of knock in 4th that they flood the motor in 1st or 2nd
