I'm usually a do it yourselfer but recently, I just havn't had time to fix my talon. Its just sitting in the yard, trying to sell it but no one wants a damn FWD. its a 95 talon with a six bolt swap that i did. I need to just have it towed somewhere to get it fixed. I am in the newark area. Anyone know a decent mechanic that knows dsm's and is decent in pricing? The problem is something that has to do with the tranny. It has a new clutch pressure plate, lightened flywheel, and throw out bearing. I also changed the master cylinder. It just won't go into gear. I don't know if the rod on the master needs to be adjusted or the system needs to be bled, or maybe the slave is shot. I just don't know and don't have the time to check it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First things to check yourself before you waste money at a shop.

master/slave cylinder. If one goes, The other works twice as hard and will more then likly go out shortly after.

BLEED the system, It takes 5 minutes, And can make a huge difference, Make sure the fluid comes out when you're bleeding the slave.

clutch pedal adjustment. You hafto get on your back and basically do a headstand under the drivers side dash, Push the clutch in a bit while looking up, You'll see the rod/locking nut. Inward on the master cylinder rod adjustment toward the seat, Is going to be is for the pedal to grab closer to the floor. Turning it outward toward the enginebay direction, Is going to be so it grabs higher, Hopfully fixing your problem and getting your car to shift through the gears. A little adjustment usually makes a big difference so don't adjust it to far outward, Or you'll have a slipping clutch.

report back once you check the above.

You can complete every step above in less then a half hour, So saying you have absolutly no time, Is just crazy unless you really want a shop to do the obvious, If one of the above is infact the problem.

PS: The car looks REALLY GOOD!

Yeah your right, maybe i should take a few minutes to check it out myself and make sure its not something so simple. I changed the master myself and it sucks being under that damn dash, especially when your a BIG mofo like myself. I think its that rod i need to adjust

if you changed the master cylinder and did not adjust the rod, Then that is one of your problems for sure! If you can't get under the dash, Just get someone small enough that can, Or unbolt the seat, It takes minutes!

I highly suggest he tries to fix the problem himself , First. Even though everyone knows IPT is a great company, He could fix the car in 5 minutes if it is one of the above mentioned problems. You can find picstures and how-to's all over the internet aswell, Or I can send you any pictures needed for any help you could possibly want, Just let me know. I'd really hate to see you waste money, Unless you really need to as a last resort.

just as a suggestion, the guys at dogbox racing are really good guys and dont kill on pricing, awesome shop. But I agree with the others, definitely try and get it done yourself first. by the way,car looks awesome

yeah this is something you can fix in a couple of minutes. ipt is good, but thet specialize in automatics man. you could even fork out for one of those litttle brake bleeders. it will work the same on the slave. good luck. maybe if you need help i wouldnt mind comming to give you a hand. i am off for the next 2 days. and i have to work a half day in mahwah tomorrow.(monday)

Does the master need to be bled also? and how would i do that? I know how to bleed the slave. Also adjustin the rod, towards the seat will make it grab higher and towards the engine bay will make it grab lower or vise versa?

Here's a nice tip too. Go and look at the "window" where the clutch fork sticks out so that the slave rod can push it. Is it sitting centered? left or right? If it's not center (can be slightly offset, not perfectly in the middle) then your problem is most likely mechanical with the clutch rod / TOB / fulcrum. Does the transmission shift easily when the car is off? If so, then it's obviously not the trans and could be the fork as I said, adjustment, and/or hydraulic system.

Pm me, I'll tell you where NOT to go. Some very bad shops, people around here that claim to know what they are doing.
