What brand Headgasket to use on 4G64?

What brand of headgasket should I use on a 4G64 (87mm) motor?

I'm pretty sure a Mitsu Gasket will not work on a 4G64 Longblock since its 87mm.

Not the 4g63 gasket, the 4g64 gasket out of the 2.4 dohc Galant.

How much PSI are you running, do you know the max it will hold? I'm worried that the gasket isnt thick enough. Also I am not a fan of Cometic do you know of any other brand?

You are very limited on gaskets for the 2.4L. I was running 35psi on it and made the numbers in my profile. You could either use the Cometic, the SCE copper gasket, or the stocker. I tried the SCE gasket and all I did was push coolant, so I quickly got rid of that and went to the stocker. I have no problems right now but I am also O-ringed so that helps a lot.

What year should I ask for on the 2.4 dohc Galant? Or do you have a part number?

Try MD189436, just make sure it is a gasket from the 1994 Galant GS 2.4 dohc. Same motor you get the timing belt from.

I have been using Cometic gaskets for a few years now. I typically will spray the gasket with Copper spray. Granted, my head nor block is o-ring'd. I only run 25psi. But, for the 2.4L with a fairly aggressive setup, this works just fine.

I just incurred my first problem with a Cometic. Went to the track, made two passes on 15psi (conservative passes). There is oil in the coolant. Are you Cometic guys installing them dry (like Cometic recommends), or like me and spraying them with copper (like a dumb-a$$)?

Cometic MLS gaskets are already coated in viton so a clean deck surface with no spray is recommended.
