What's up yall, new to the site, have a 98 GST Spyder. Just got back from a trip to Bakersfield and now the car is sputtering while accelerating. It is fine in first gear, and fine if i dont step on it. The problem exists when in 2nd thru 5th and only when i punch it. It will be smooth then sputter for 2 seconds then be smooth then sputter again. I recently changed the valve cover gasket, i have checked the spark plugs and they are good. I am dumb founded know:banghead:

How old are your spark plug wires? Even though they look good it doesnt mean that are. Just try a tune up (spark plugs/wires,fuel filter, etc) gap the spark plugs and a boost leak test and see if that works.

Thanks, all she needed was some new plugs & wires. Gapped them to .28 no she runs fabu. Also learned to look throughout the site before asking questions. It is now time to mod.

Hey i have the problem as well with my car. I have a 2003 lancer evolution. 1st through 5th that car runs perfect i can gas on it and it does fine. When im cruising in 5th gear anywhere from 60-80 and i just want to step on it. THe car then starts to sputter. idk what the problem is.

probally the same thing. go ahead an check your gap buddy my dad have an o6 that was built pretty nasty. long story short, plugs and wires were good aftermarket ones. it idled and drove normal good but when i got on it, it ran like s#$t!!! the gap was way off and thats a pretty important thing on any turbo car really. try it an see if it works!!!!!!!
