Free Track Day at Willow Springs - anyone here actually drive their car?
We have one free pass for a NASA-sanctioned track day at Willow Springs. We've posted this in a few forums a couple of months ago with no takers. It seems like nobody in the southwest DSM world goes to the track, which is ironic with as many people who talk about making their cars fast.
Now, we can understand if a few of you have something broken - that happens to everyone. But does nobody have a car that runs that can make this event? It's a little embarassing when the regional director of NASA gives us two free passes and we can't get anyone to step up and go to a FREE event. Where is the passion people? If you're worried about not being competitive, it's not a competition. It's a driver education day where you'll receive instruction.
July 9th, Willow Springs Raceway
NASA Pro Racing High Performance Driver Education day
Let me know ASAP. You must be a NASA member - which you should be able to take care of this week and still make the event. Anyone who actually drives their DSM, please email your personal info and we'll see about getting you registered. Come on people - restore our faith in the southwest DSM community. Show us that there are people out here who do more than just talk about going fast.

I would LOVE to do it.. but my car has an oil leak.. don't race tracks tend to frown on that? My car's FWD and has the stock turbo too... but man, that would be fun.

It doesn't matter what mods your car has/doesn't have, FWD/AWD, whatever... you'll have fun regardless. As I said, it's not a competition - hell, I'd take a rental car out there and have a good time. But yes, oil leaks are usually frowned upon at events like that.

Good god! Giving away a driving event. How about some love for the east coast guys. The rental is a good idea. I've rented cars for driving events and you can learn a lot. For god sakes, someone jump on this!!!

Email all your personal info: address, phone, etc. And go register on NASAproracing.com to become a member. I think it's $40 for a year. I'll forward your info to the regional director.

I'm sad now... was supposed to be going, and dropped all the damn coolant five days beforehand. Still waiting for my head to get back from being milled back into working order.
At least I'll have a metal head gasket and all new lines, for the next time this happens. Er... if this happens again.
