Nope, there is minimal performance gain, save your money, and get a big 16G.

My opinion is from experience

if you can please tell us your experience with 14b turbo.

Everyone has heard of guys running 12's with a 14b, right??? Of course.

I actually know someone, and seen him doing it with my own eyes.
Anyways back to the 14b, last year my T25 decided to give up on me, I asked around if anyone had 14b for sale, word got out, and I managed to get one for $100, the price was right and I went for it.

With my T25 my best time was 14.02s 1/4mile.
Went to the track with the 14b, the best time I managed to get was 13.91, not impressive at all, with all that being said I was very disappoited with the 14b.

I suggest get a new turbo, when your getting a 14b, the turbo is tired, old, and you don't know what condition it's on.

It's a big risk buying an old turbo that someone else has used, and abused, you might live to regret it, like I did.

I thought it was definately worth it. $130 installed and an av. gain of 36 hp to the wheels.

I think it's worth it. With supporting mods, you can run 21PSI all the way to redline. You can also get 325 HP to the crank with that turbo on the 2G block. If you port the turbo before you put it on, it will spool at the same lightning fast rate that the T-25 does. If you plan on staging your mods, it's a good upgrade. If you plan on only taking your car to 325HP, it's a good upgrade, but then, I'm biased, as I have a 14b waiting to go on... :thumb:

Matt.

me to, I got a 14B on the way. I'm just shootin for mid 13's for my new setup. But I have big plans for the turbo when it gets here :)

i'm getting one too what should i have done to it before it goes in i like the spooling time of the t-25 but the little kid just doesn't cut it
oh i'm getting the 1g o2 housing too should i port it or used the 2g
about the poll i'll answer in a month

Don't get a 1g O2 housing, it flows less than a 2g one, keep your 2g O2 housing and ported as much as you can.

Those guys that have a 2G car, and that are replacing the T25 turbo with a 14b, keep me posted if you feel a difference or not, maybe my 14b just completely sucks.

It would be good if you have time slips, to tell the difference.

Thanx guys

Yes- if your crap T25 goes out and you don't have the $ for what you want then yes get a 14b if you can get it for $150.

No- If you are doing it as a "performance upgrade", or are paying more than $150.

just my .02

"It would be good if you have time slips, to tell the difference."
no track time yet, but with the G-tech:
T-25- 199 av. whp @ 19 psi
Next day (same temp approx.)
14B- 234 av. whp @ 14 psi

mine cost me $100 and I put it on for $30 in parts. Less than $4/hp seems like a pretty good deal to me. Plus it gives you much more potential and allows you to actually use the top 2k of your rev range.

heres the list of my upgrade with my 14b turbo.
ported with 34 mm flapper
FMIC
3" down pipe
3" high low cat
cat back exhaust
1g bov
uicp
upgrade fuel pump
stage IV clutch
ebc
8.5mm plug wires
one range colder plugs

with this turbo and supporting mods I manage to run 13.6 @99 mph.
my set boost is at 18 psi using pump gas.

Well, to give you guys a better idea of EXACTLY how much more power the 14b will put out over the T-25, I'm taking my car to the dyno this weekend. Current mods are: T-25@16Psi, 1GBov, K&N Fipk, Test Pipe. The 14b goes on in a few months, along with a turbo back exhaust and fuel pump re-wire. I'll post my results as I get them.

I am very pleased with upgrading to a 14b so far. I got the turbo for 100, bought the J-pipe and oil feed line from RRE and made everything else myself and it works great.

My best time on the T25 was a 13.48 at 98.9 MPH, that run was on race gas and with 4 weeks of tinkering (23 passes). I put the 14b on the day after the 13.48 and took it to the track the following Friday night, with much worst conditions (rain delay), no tuning and pump gas at 17PSI, I ran a 13.39 at 100. I will put race gas in the car, turn up the boost and tune it some the next time out (4/18) and post the results. Granted so far I have only seen .1 improvement for just over $200 but the conditions were far worst on the 14b run and it was on pump gas, I predict better gains will follow.

The performance increase is one reason I went with a 14b on my car, the other reason is the 14b provides a cheap stepping stone. The T25 will struggle with the large FMIC I plan on purchasing and upgraded injectors and DSMLink are overkill also. I am confident that I will see improvements with the 14b as I add parts to support my future turbo upgrade, where as the T25 probably wouldn't see gains. If I had the money to install a turbo, IC, injectors and tuning at the same time, I would, but the 14b allows me to build up my support over time without taking losses in performance.

I seen a video of a 2G with a 14B that ran 12.8?!? and with minimal basic mods. The vid is at www.importevolution.com ..Youll want to go all out and port the heck out of the turbo along with manifold and o2 housing. 14B IMO is the best SMALL turbo, so y not go for it if ur on the budget.

WORD.

Port that 14b out as much as you can before installing it, it's so worth it.

its so freaking worth it. I bought my 14b from a friend for a 100 bucks. Then is old my t25 to a honda boy with some other stuff for 275. I made money to go faster. How could it not be worth it? Plus the 14b has a lot more top end speed. The turbo pulls so much harder in high rpms. i dropped almost a full second on my times

dropping almost a full second on your ETs was not due to the 14b. maybe a tiny bit,but thats it.
